: MT/R's....How do you like them?
YellowIH 06-24-2002, 07:39 AM I did the search but want to see what the IH minded think about the MT/R's. :flipoff2:
Looking to get a set of the 37 x 12.5 R15's. I have a set of 35" gumbo's :barf: right now that I really do not like.
How about it?

Uhhhh!!!! Are we really going to have a "which tire is the best" thread in the IH board. That shit is for the poser jeep guys!
ol John Henry 06-24-2002, 07:51 AM Scout on Goodyears... kinda funny:laughing:

Really....we do everything else better so what's the word...or will our bad ass Scouts just kick booty no matter what tire....if that's the case I might as well run POS bald AT's or cut up a rotten set of street tires off that car on blocks in front of the entrance to your trailer park. :p
I want an IH opinion...not a "poser jeep guys'" off another board.
harkinoff 06-24-2002, 08:07 AM I,ve seen the mtr in action and would say they stick better than my ssr's, and they will tear this as easy as the ssr's
TERRA-IZER 06-24-2002, 09:59 AM I have 37x12.50x5 GoodYear MTRs on my Terra, haven't had them on the tral much mostly street, on the street they are pretty quite and ride nice (my bald 36 TSL radials where noisey but rode about the same) the MTRs acuttly balanced easly unlike the Swampers when they where new. On the tail they flex great and stick to every thing (not as flexy as the TSl radials and stick about the same). I like the hight of the MTrs but they still look more like a AT The next set will probley be swampers agian but since i do alot of street driving to school (70 miles round trip) i think the MTRs will out last the swampers (15,000 miles).
Scout Dude 06-24-2002, 10:21 AM I've seen them in action way too many times...They stick and grab like no other tire that I have seen..they are great for competition. However, if you are used to the tough sidewalls of a Swamper, then you will be disapointed with the MTR's. If you currently run BFG Mud's or some other radial, then the MTR's would probably work out great for you.
YellowIH 06-24-2002, 12:02 PM Thanks for the replies so far.
They should be here in 5 to 7 days....we'll see about that.
Ordered them from 4wheelparts....Four 37 x 12.50 x R15 MT/R's mounted and balanced on four 15 x 10 eight lug chrome spoke wheels....$980.00  delivered to my door. I had to bargain with them but they kept the guarantee about prices. :D

What suspension setup (SOA??) are you running and what is the true size of the tire??
Thanks,
Wes
Goodyear MT/R's..... I used to run BFG MT's....but I like the idea of a 37" tire that I can drive to the trail and not worry about it melting away like a Swamper. I have taken my gumbos whereever TSL's have went....and I have saw the MT/R's go up the same things TSL's did just the same.....guess I'll get to find out first hand the hard way.... :shaking:

TERRA-IZER 06-24-2002, 08:12 PM My Terra is SOA with 2 1/2" SkyJacker springs, RS with 1" lift built into them and 2" longer rear shackles and rear buggy springs, it also has sectioned wheel wells 3" up and opened 2 1/2"-3", the 37x12.50x15 MTRs on 8" wheels and 30 PSi with the trucks weight on them are 35 3/4"-36" they are way taller then my 36 TSl radials and pretty close to my 38" TSL Sx's. I do like them so far, and the sidewalls should be stronger than my TSl radials and i only cut 1 of them.

So do you have any pics? :D
I should be able to pick up the tires this weekend and dig out the sawzall or air nibbler to make it all work. I hope it doesn't take to much trim work...may just add bumpstops for a couple trips and see how I like it. Thanks for the info.
I have a SOA (7") with 3/4 ton axles, 2 inch body lift, one inch lift shackles and an extra leaf in the rear...hope it fits with out cutting much. :(
TERRA-IZER 06-28-2002, 04:33 PM Theres a old pick of it at www.phantomworks.com/binderbunch/ under members rigs (Chris Keck), they are about 2 years old, before the bob job, 37's and fender lip work. Sorry no current picks.
