Ok, I have a 134 f-head in my old CJ 5, which I’m rebuilding (The jeep not the motor). The problem is that I’m from the “electronic ignition age” … I dumped the 12v generator and put a Remi Delphi alternator on it that is working fine. The question I have is, do I need a resistor between the battery and the coil? Also will the wire between the resistor and the coil have to be a particular gauge and length?
I rebuilt the carb, put in new fuel cell, new rub gas line, fuel filter, cleaned/ rebuilt the glass fuel pump, new wires, plugs, points, condenser and distr. cap. It fires up and runs good for a couple minutes then it starts wanting to stall out.. It will fire up but try to stall out again… If I let it set awhile it will then run good a couple minutes??????
