Looking for the best price on 1978-1984 Caddy El Durado calipers for a disc brake conversion. Loaded would be nice, but not necessary. Has integrated parking brake. If anyone has a great price on them please share. Car Quest Quoted $165 loaded per w/o core (48 less w/ core).
Thanks.

Are you looking for the big ones (fit K10-K20 brackets) or the small ones? I thought the big ones were '76-'78 Eldo, but I may be a bit off--I tell the parts guys '77.
I buy them for $10 at the local self service junk yard, and buy the rebuild kits for around $6 at Autozone (others are 3x higher). I run the front K10 pads.

The bracket is a custom design by TSM for use on a rear disk brake converison for an 80 series Land Cruiser (1991). TSM wanted $280 for a set of rear caddy el durado calipers- no pads(integrated parking brake jacks up the cost I guess, cause my 1 ton GM calipers set me back $48 each loaded for the project truck).
I was just curious if anyone had a good lead on loaded rebuilt one's for less than that.

I checked today at Autozone and they want $66.99 each and a core of $23.00 each. Is this going on a FF14?
Pcorssmit have you done this yourself? Now you have me wondering which is the best one to get. Does anyone have some first hand knowledge to add? Ideas? Anyone who has done this and have input or things they would have done different?

So when they are installed bleeder screw up, which way does the lever set at when the cable is engaged. Does it move forward toward the front of axle or backwards? Id like to know that before I get me a pair. ive got a D60 rear w/discs & its on my SCOUTII, the Scout has a cable that pulls a threaded rod with a half moon shaped piece that the cable from the stock brakes slides into. so the rear half of the cable is a one piece, each end goes into the drum(if stock). So Im wondering if I could use a stock type setup or have to build additional brackets if the lever need to turn backwards.

I sell them at Advance Auto Parts where the best part is our people, hahahah. Anyway, yeah we got them there for $66.99, and the core is only $5. That's unloaded though. I think on the AAP website the core is $10. I get 20 percent off all that stuff, even warn and rancho stuff too.

I have the Eldo calipers mounted on stock front 3/4 to brackets. They are on the rear side of the axle, w/the bleeder pointed straight up. IIRC, the lever pulls to the rear. You could probably get them to pull to the front by putting them on the front, and maybe swapping sides. Someone here was trying to swap the levers or something to make them work easier a couple months ago, forget who, though. My e-brake isn't hooked up, which means I have to occasionally manully readjust them.
And rebuild your own damn calipers. :D

This is just some info on the Eldo rear pads. They are just a little different than the standard fronts. Their is a little raised tab on the piston side pad that engages the piston of the rear caliper. This keeps the piston from rotating when parking brake is set, or you use the lever to adjust the brake pads up. This pad is unique, read difficult to get, and that may be why so many calipers are avalable without pads?? Just an FYI
