I am going to buy a nice pencil grinder for use at work and at home. Tired of the $11 chinese pieces of shit that half the time are already seized before you take them out of the carton.

Everyone I've asked has recommended Dotco or Dynabrade. We have other Dynabrade air tools at work and I'm really impressed with the abuse & misuse they can tolerate, but have no experience with Dotco. Those 2 brands are about the same price, just wondering which one was the best. 60k rpm, non-turbine.

I was at the dentist yesterday and he had a pencil grinder (im sure more specific for health equipment) but it was made by Dotco.

They are very handy. We use them primarily for bench work at the shop, but I've been surprised with the # of uses I have for it. Kinda like a Dremel, I guess.

Interesting. I know medical equipment is usually top notch. Thanks!

I have heard from a few more people agreeing with you. I wish I could find a place that had both so I could look at them. Thanks!

Dotco is pretty much the only brand I've seen at work (Air Force) for air grinders.

No qualms with dotco here. Most of my stuff is rockwell, but I don't know of anybody at work that has had problems with dotco.

I swear by Dotco....and a few hundred Tool and Die makers I know feel the same.

Had mine for over a decade with alot of abuse...I mean I take care of it and oil it etc. etc., but all my Dotco stuff gets worked hard and takes it like a champ.

Heads and shoulders above any other air tool made in this country. Nothing I've used is even in the same ballpark.

and make sure you get the wrench with the hexhole on 1 end with the tines on the other. About 10 years from know you will probably have rounded off the collet nut somewhat.

You can't go wrong with ether brand, both are top quality. The real key to making them last is never running your cutting device out any further than you need to, vibration kills those tiny bearings. Our shop has over 500 Dotco/Dynabrade pencil grinders on the work floor that run 24/7 and both brands are comparable in longevity. I'm a Tool&Die maker and when work gets slow in our area we have a crate full of pencil grinders waiting for rebuild.

They also like cool dry air and a shot of turbine/air tool oil before each use.

We use a lot of the Dotco air cast saws in my field.. I have always perfered them to other brands, and never had a prob with one. They get used and abused day in and day out, for years on end.
