Ok short and sweet. My 2.5L is blowing air out of the valve cover through the oil fill cap when you take it off , its enough air to make its own sound that you can hear over the engine. It increases when you rev the engine up and I have NO CLUE what causes this. My buddies have all told me " oh yeah thats blow by" but what the hell causes it? Is it serious? Is my shizzle going to explode in a fiery ball of doom?

how many miles are on the motor (shizzle) ?

It's blowby , its caused by incomplete sealing of the piston rings to the cylinder walls .It gets worse every day the engine is run , but it is slow moving ,like a H2 ,so you got allot a time from a brand new engine ,to a worn out engine .
all engines do it ,and it is about the last symtom of a worn out engine , you have to worry about . A worn out engine will start to misfire ,fowl plugs , and lose power , before blowby might matter . Blowbys' only effect that is bad , is that as it increases , it pushes more and more oil into the air cleaner , so if you have a quart of oil in there already , then you already know your engine sucks/blows.

Do a compression test... also, check your PCV valve/connections. The compression test will varify if you do have blow-by... that and if your valves leak as-well. Does your motor blow blue-ish smoke when you rev it?

The engine doesnt blow blue smoke when you rev it. I dont know how many miles are on it....the speedo stopped working around 87000miles . I havent seen any oil in the air cleaner either. I checked my PCV valve connections and they all seem pretty good. The engine was running real rough the other day @ URE and i changed the fuel filter, plugs, wires ,dis cap, fuel strainer ,and washed out the gas tank and put all that back together (thought I might have had water in the gas) and all that seemed to help but it idles rough and seems to maybe have a slight misfire occasionally .I havent had alot of engine repairing training....so my shizzle...hehe....may be about to blow...I got my power back after I did those things mentioned above so I guess I will drive it till she quits...

THANKS GUYS FOR THE HELP!!!!!

A certain amount of blowby is normal and is handled by the PCV.valve these valves get plugged up and need to be changed. This may not solve your problem but its worth looking at.
