: D44 and 38" boggers

Wondering how a D44 will handle skinny 38" boggers? They will be on a early bronco with a big block that sees more mud than hardcore rocks. Although I will see East Coast rocks occasionally. Has anyone tried the combo with success?
Thanks,
Chad

I don't think you should have much of a problem.

I ran the 38.5x11 boggers with a Dana 44 a couple of years ago and the combo worked well. Had a K5 with a 305 only

Like this rig:

He had a rowdy 460, C6, D44/60, 38" Boggers. He normally mud drags the rig, but it worked pretty good on the rocks in SoDak, even ran Hal Johns with out a problem, and he isn't light on the throttle. You might be alright, but any wider and the axle will die a swift death.

Had a guy run at one of my races in 1999 with that setup. EB, 38.5" Boggers, 44/9", and a 572" roller motor. No worries in mud.

I'm running 40's X15 tsl's on a 44 with moser alloys. I have gone through a few u- joints, but everything else has held up fine. And I'v hammered pretty hard on them.
Its on a 91 wrangler 4.0L.
