: Suspension question

I was watching 4x4TV yesterday and they were showing the ARCA competition at Johnson Valley. I noticed that a couple of the rigs there had their lower control arms going under the axles and mounted to the front of the axles. Does anyone know the reasoning for this? I would think that this set-up would allow something else to be snagged by rocks, but I don't know. Anyone have a theory? Not the clearest pic, but you get the idea...

It's a Currie thing. They started doing some control arms like that re reduce some of the negative effects of the short arm TJ lift (tire lift, unloading on hills etc.)
