: Finally got my full roll cage in!
Po' riggity 06-24-2002, 05:20 PM Well, after having the cage sit at the shop for months, I finally convinced my buddy Matt (Rock Ranger) to come up and help me. This cage was a custom built cage that was built for another yj. I bought it for cheap, thinking it would be CLOSE to bolt in. Well, after 16 hours, and lots of blood sweat, and metal cutting, its in. The cage itself fit nicely, but there were a lot of little things we had to fab up to get it installed RIGHT. Its still not done, my windshield is off by a couple degrees, but I know what I need to do to fix it, and thats on the list for next saturday. Anyway, on to the pics:
Rear of the cage, a lot better than the factory 89 yj cage.

More pics to come. I love having that added securities for my driveway wheeling :)

B.A.R.K 06-24-2002, 10:12 PM that cage sure is pretty, does it blend in with the sky when you look up:D
cage looks great man, did you do it yourself, if not who or what after market bars did you buy, and we all know that the blue is just a primer that you intend on covering right?????
rockmutt 06-24-2002, 10:27 PM dude, put that jeep on some steroids to match that sweet a$$ roll cage, good job man:D
MNBen 06-25-2002, 09:16 AM Nice cage,
I like the triangles and bracing. At least you are doing things in the right order. :D Safety first. Cage ect -> huge lift. Half the hillrods out there lift their shit to fit 44's and run it that way for 2 years before putting in a decent cage. Now you can spring it over and run 38's without worrying about losing your noggin rolling.
And I like the blue :flipoff2: that think a trail rig has to look like shit.
Ben
Po' riggity 06-25-2002, 09:59 AM Thanks for the comments guys, and NO, Im not covering it LOL. And as far as going "big", my only plan is SOA on 2" springs and 37's. Dont want to commute 140 miles round trip to work in anything bigger than that.

4Bangler 06-25-2002, 09:59 AM Nice Cage! Very similar to what I have cooking up in my head for a cage for my junk, the main hoop and rear legs look like factory '92 & up YJ cage, are they? Will your soft top fold past the rear cross bar? I know mine is tight past the corners of the factory rear bars, but I don't want to run my rear cross brace straight across, in case someone I like rides in the back seat. Actually, that's a damn nice looking Jeep in general, kinda reminds me of one I see once in a while.

Po' riggity 06-25-2002, 11:24 AM 4bangler,
Thanks for the compliments. I've got a bestop supertop, and the main hardware splits in the middle. I have to split it to get it to clear the cross bar, but it all still works great. I happen to like my jeep alot as well :) Even if the 35's are "small", by these guys standards :D. As far as the rear bar being the factory 92-up yj cage, that I don't know, since i didnt build it. Thanks for the compliments.
Scott
4Bangler 06-25-2002, 11:38 AM Yeah that's what I thought, I like to fold down my top without having to take off the fabric or mess with the bows, and since I'm in Michigan, you never know when it's going to start snowing, so I like to have the top ready to throw on. I think I'll just run a straight rear cross bar, nobody ever rides in my back seat when I have it in anyway, maybe I should sell it to someone on the Jeeps Uneducated board. 35's are plenty big for me as well, besides, my 4cyl wouldn't turn 38's 5.38:1 or not
ukjeeper 06-25-2002, 11:45 AM Theres a guy on JU with a VERY similar setup. Look for a guy called "Love24Wheel". :flipoff2:

It will if it's an automatic, trust me ;)
Welby 06-25-2002, 12:34 PM Scott,
Looks good, man
I like the blue... Fawk 'em if they don't ;)
Keith Strong 06-25-2002, 12:34 PM Very cool cage! I dub it the "Blue Ball Blue" Cage :flipoff2: I like the rear setup a lot.

hey bigdude, what is the auto trans that mates to the 2.5l?
is it stronger than the ax5?
MD, nice cage, looks great!
Keith Strong 06-25-2002, 01:02 PM 999 Kid. You should know that :flipoff2:
kidwired 06-25-2002, 01:07 PM your right I should :(
4Bangler 06-25-2002, 04:15 PM Ugh, 2.5 with a 999. That's just sad, I mean I love 4cyl's but even I wouldn't drive a slug like that. My 2.5 is a dog even with a SM420 and 5.38's I tried building it up when I blew it up last winter, TB spacer, header, exhaust, Mopar cam & springs, a little head job (I especially liked that), 0.30 over, milled the head 0.10, the block 0.20, she's 10.5:1 now, and still a dog, I guess you just can't polish a turd.
Po' riggity 06-25-2002, 07:34 PM Keith, Dub it the blue ball cage, thats cool with me. At least my cage isnt Labia pink :flipoff2: Welby, Thanks for the compliments. I am loving it so far. Can't beat the whole cage for the 200 bucks I paid for it :D Oh, and If Im thinking right, the early 4 bangers with auto trannies used the TF-904.
Thanks for the compliments. :)

coiledcj7 06-26-2002, 11:13 AM do you have a soft top or hard top ? i was just wondering if a hard top would still fit on with that kick ass cage?

IndyCJ 06-26-2002, 11:43 AM Looks kick ass man, good job.
Nice driveway shot too, way to add to the "hardcoreness" :flipoff2:
Po' riggity 06-26-2002, 12:31 PM Keith... Oh :emb: :emb: Then he DOES have a 999 LOL.
Indy, you know how I am with those hard core driveway shots, and thats not a driveway, its on the street at work :D
I don't have a hard top. Couldnt tell ya if it would fit over the whole cage or not. I doubt that it would though, with that rear cross bar.

wrookie 06-27-2002, 01:25 PM This may be hard to believe, but I really like your cage;)
