has anyone ever swapped and early bronco 44 front into a YJ? I so did you have cut the sleeves off of the tubes or just the radius arm mounts?

I did this swap back in 96, so forgive my memory if I forget anything. Early bronco housings dont have the sleeves like late model "big" broncos, so ya dont have to worry about that. You do have to cut off the radius arm ears tho. The diff is more centered than a jeep front end, so you dont have to worry about mounting a spring perch on the diff casting. Having the diff more centered does make the driveshaft try to share space with the exhaust, but thats easily fixed. Early bronco's used smaller U-joints than other 44's, so ya should swap axle shafts while your at it. A Stock chevy 44 short side shaft will fit right in with no mods. Back when I did mine, I had a Scout shaft shortened a couple inches to fit the long side, and scout outers since thats what I had laying around. There is a good write up on this swap HERE (http://www.bc4x4.com/chrisw/projects/axleswap/axleswap.asp) which should help.
