just an update on my bronco:

Looks like the "off road" MSD ignition didn't like the water, it's toast.
the starter's not working, even banging it and jumping it. I'll take it a part, see what's up.

It wouldn't be a gear-reduction starter is it?

Very good point! But I believe he coaxed her into submission last night as I heard that beautiful sound of the engine coming from the garage.:D

No he just had some Crazy RedNeck Texas behind the wheel and since we were running out of time we dicided that it was now or never. He actually had a very well built little rig. The spares were the ones that were straws

The video is a 4WPW exclusive, sorta. Anybody that buys wholesale from Transamerican, can get it too, but TA is really just 4WPW.

Since it's complementary to the magazine, and the mag has to be the "first" to break the results (otherwise, people would buy one or the other, but not both), and the mag print lead time is... well... enormous... the video will be promised out in 4WPW stores in late November. Reality will have it there closer to Christmas, if last year is any indication. It'll probably be two tapes, with a collective $35 price tag.

Scott,

Some of the FW guys were still pissed at you as well, They mentaioned your name that "Told eveyone about the comp, before the Mag was released"
I can't wait to see what happpens now, where 7 of 10 of the guys posted a big story about it here

Who didnt see that coming?

I saw it coming, that is why I brought like 6 spare 4-link bars. I thought it was kind of cool to see my truck severely mangled like that, but it was only cool because I knew it would be easy to fix.:D

Matt, I put a new P/S pump on my truck and it works great again. People might see us on the video, both of us pulling on the steering wheel to try and turn the tires because the hydro assist died.

06-27-2002, 07:08 PM
Yeah i remember thinking at the time how ironic that was that i was having such a hard time steering when i sell a product so that you don't have to work that hard:rolleyes:
Did you read the post wher i mentioned that DAn the guy that works for me actually graduated from Traverse City High School. I thought that was pretty cool. Small world Huh?

mudtruck44
06-27-2002, 08:58 PM
Yeah Matt, that is pretty funny that he is from Traverse City. I heard you say that you had a lot of good pictures and video. I don't. My pictures sucked. Could you send me some good pictures if you have some?

TheLakeRat
06-27-2002, 09:07 PM
yeah i've got over 200 pics and an hour and a half of video that Aaron took. It's not great but then again i guess for a 11 year old he did pretty good.

e-mail me your adress and i'll send you a copy of both.

Hm. We've got 8 hours of video (but none of the obstacle course), courtesy Ben. Dunno how long it will be in the end, after cutting out the junk, I'm sure it'll still fill a 2hr tape. Richard is editing it right now in his spare time. And I ain't waiting 'til Christmas for it!

mudtruck, how thick were those links and what was the situation where they broke? Plan on getting more beef, or less rocks?

mudtruck44
06-30-2002, 08:43 AM
Well, my bars were only .120 wall. I wanted to beef them up before the competition, but I didn't get around to it (along with other things). I had never bent one in three years of wheelin' up here in Michigan but I bent almost all of them at the TTC- bottom 2 rears in the frame twister, and all of the front in the rocks. Most were not bent very bad so I straightened them with bender, but I have built new lower bars using .200 wall. That should be good enough for the wheelin I do.

I think what happened is a rock bashed a lower bar in sideways and that caused a heim joint on the other side to pull out of its threads, then the axle rotated forward and broke a U-Joint strap.

So the answer is more beef, and less rocks. I would like to get on the rocks again. There is absolutely no rockcrawling here, but there is a lot of interest in it. There has been a lot of talk about man made rockcrawling but nothing done yet.

think it's rat motor, 454. Sounds pretty healthy, too.

Lets all hope that this years tape is a big improvement over last years. That one was the biggest POS ever!!

You were asking about Abba's engine? I think it was a pretty mildly built 454. He had a dual plane intake, headers, Quadra-jet, cam wasn't real big, probably 425-450 horsepower. He told me everything about it but I don't remember all of the details.

The tape this year will be much better than last year. I talked to the camera crew and they told me that Fourwheeler was aware that they screwed up last year. The guys that did the video this year also did the 1997 and 2000 tapes. I thought the 2000 video was maybe the best one so I'm sure the 2002 tape will be good.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. What's the specs on that mouse you have, Jesse? :smokin:

mudtruck44
07-02-2002, 10:08 AM
4 bolt 350 - .030 over
Forged TRW's
Edelbrock Performer RPM cam
Performer RPM heads
Performer RPM intake
Holley 750
HEI with hypertech cap and coil
Crane roller rockers
1 5/8 headers

I have had it in my truck for about 3-4 years now and it is holding up really well. I think I am going to give up on mud bogs so my engine will stay together a little longer (7000 RPM+!). It is around 410-420 hp, but the low end power ain't that great. I can't crawl at 6 or 7 hundred RPM like other guys. I have to keep it near at least 1000. If I could find a 400 short block to put all of these components on, I think it would be a better all around engine.
