: Drag bags and other "tactical" bags
usmcdoc14 11-25-2007, 09:03 AM I need a new rifle bag and am leaning to something durable that can carry 1-2 rifles, magazines, other shit. I was looking at the blackhawk drag bag but at $200 thats realy pushing my spending limit. Anyone have any recomendations?
also found this knock-off, anyone see/own one?

$349 I know its over what you are looking for just an idea of a style of bag.

Still pretty pricey but they come highly recommended. Galati actually has a couple of drag bags of different styles. I'd like to pick up the shooting mat/drag bag myself one of these days.

its cheaper than getting 8 yards of 800-1000 dener cordura nylon, zippers and other small shit NOT at the riggers shop

so where do you buy cordura? is that something you can go into some nancy fabric store and get? there was an eagle sniper vest i wanted but the ammo pouches wouldn't fit 300 win mag. i figure it wouldn't be that hard to make my own ammo pouches if i got a heavy duty sewing machine and some cordura. i wanted to make a soft top for the 4runner so a good sewing machine may be a good investment, (i just have to make sure i pick it up in my dodge truck, not the miata:flipoff2:).

just get a nice walking foot machine and you can sew ANYTHING. look at craigslist or DRMO auctions for them.

indulf 11-25-2007, 07:09 PM Cheaper model (http://www.eberlestock.com/Gunslinger%20M%20Series.htm)
very nice :)
blkntancj 11-28-2007, 12:03 PM The Eberlestock Gunslinger that Bubba posted is a very nice piece of gear. I have used the standard drag bag style for years and I would never go back. The old drag bag style is a gun bag with shoulder straps. The Gunslinger is a back pack that carries a rifle. Carries ten times nicer than a drag bag and holds alot more gear. $189 on http://www.lapolicegear.com/ebgsguriba.html We have had them for about 6 months now and I am very happy with the performance. I have easily scaled fences and other obstacles with it on my back (far easier than with a drag bag). The only thing taht I would recommend with it is a muzzle/crown protector of some type as the lower part of the rifle compartment is a bit thin on padding in my opinion.

usmcdoc14 12-18-2007, 09:13 PM oh ya, I hate you guys  I ordered 2 yards of ballistic nylon and 4 yards of cordura a few weeks ago. Tomorow I will be chopping/converting a London Bridge medical bag that had a hole burnt into it into a rifle/drag bag :flipoff2:
There will not be much of the original bag left besides the zippers and some side parts.
rocknbronco 12-18-2007, 11:01 PM I'm still awaiting my wife to sew my bandoilers:shaking:
Now I need her to make one of these:evil:

I have been thinking of those myself. To use in my "package" deals.
Do you think its worth it, or a great deal, or you get what you paid for?

For the price, they are a fucking awesome deal. Hows that?

you should have thought less and bought more :flipoff2:
My concern from people who own bags such as this and others...what about scope protection. Obviously you don't throw this thing around with or without optics, I just get tired of removing my glass to fit in the standard case.

Use one of these in conjunction with the bag. Mine rides around in the trunk of a Cop car all the time and still maintains 1MOA or less.

got this for x-mass :bounce: and it is VERY heavily made. I am still working on a project bag but this one will DEFINITELY last a while and work well.
I have no clue why the Blackhawk bag is like $100 more
ATLRoach 12-23-2007, 10:14 PM Let me know what you think when you get it.. Brigadequartmaster had the blackhawks for sale in the store the other day for $135

I have it right now, I was allowed to open it early :D
its the same "style" as the blackhawk except it has 2 long pouches on the outside instead of 1 big long one. The construction is very solid and I would not doubt if they were made at the same chicom factory  I can take pics later if anyone would like.
aloharover 12-24-2007, 07:56 AM I still like this one

Specially since the PALs webbing allows you to change out the side pockets.

usmcdoc14 12-24-2007, 02:04 PM here is some pics

pack straps on the back. They look "ALICE" packish type straps and are completely removable or they can be tucked back inside in their own pouch

removable divider held with snaps and velcro. LOTS of padding on the outside including a top area that protects where the zipper closure is.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gallery/files/1/3/3/4/4/dragbag3.jpg
will fit a full size rifle
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gallery/files/1/3/3/4/4/dragbag4.jpg
it is very well made, I would have to hold this near a Blackhawk or comparable one but I am pretty sure it would be a tie or this one better.

Do you know if you can fit two guns in it? I just need a double rifle case for traveling between the safe and the range. It's going to hold my 20" AR and an 870. I can make a little modification to it, but I just need to know if it roughly fits. Also I really like the price

i actually carry mine as a shit hit the fan bag:
1 AK w/ 3 mag
1 9mm AR SBR w/ 4' barrel w/ 6 mags
1 mac-11 (9mm) w/ 3 mags
1 9mm S&W pistol w/ 2 mags
it works as an awesome range bag....i don't think it would hold a AR and an 870 in the same pocket...unless the 870 has an m4 stock it probably won't fit in the small pocket at all...
