on swapping auto to manual. I kmow.....I need to get all these basics outta here.
I am looking into buying a 87 xj w/ aw15 that pops into first after several minutes of driving.....I would rather swap that out and throw in a t-18.
how hard is this to do?

with an XJ, what i'd reccomend is to find one that is a 4.0/5-speed 89 or later (beware of peugeot 5-speed crap) and swap the driveline from that into yours.
autos had different spline counts on the transfer case, and probably different length driveshafts as well.
this would be the easiest/most cost effective way to swap all that out.

Just for clarification. Do you have the automatic AW4 or the manual AX15????????????????????? I am assuming you have the AW4 and you want to swap in an T18. Like stated above, just swap in a AX15 and be done. Bolt in parts. AW4 was 23 or 21 spline and the AX15 is 23 spline.
i know ketchup dog did the other way around
91 and newer aw4's are suppose to be 23spline. 87-90 aw4's are 21 spline
