I was wondering if any of yall have conerted a Chevy Dually front 60? I bought one the other day and am looking for hubs from a single whell 1 ton has anybody out there cut down their dually hubs to accept a regular 8 hole wheel? I called Wagoner Machine Shop and they said that they could cut my dually hubs down for 250.00. I should be able to find standard hubs cheaper than that shouldnt I?

I haven't looked for any yet, but I heard they are spendy.
There was someone on here that mentioned some people who want to convert to the dually hubs may be interested in trading.

I have a chevy, One ton single Dana 60 front hubs, spindels, and brake calipers. I will trade you for yours if you pay the freight both ways.

I wont be able to do this for a couple of weeks.

i'm a friend of skeetshooters, it came out of a 79 chevy one ton dually.

I have converted a dually hub to a single wheel. New single wheel hubs can be up to $720, I hear. Used will be cheaper if you find them. If you can', it's the way to go. Tell me if you need me to, and I will tell you what I had to do to convert my dually to single.

You can buy the single wheel hub assemblies with rotors from dynatrac for about $500.

You can also put the dually hub assembly in a chop saw, cut the ears off and then turn it smooth on a lathe. take the bolts out that hold the rotor on and drill them out to accept wheel studs. and Wala

I converted my dually setup to single wheel for $30.00 I went to the diesel registry page, and offered to trade mine for someonese setup. Found a guy in a few days. I was gonna take theaxle and turn down the dually hubs. This can be done if a proper machine shop does the wrk for you. Good luck

I cut mine off thru the bolt holes and put the hub on a brake lathe and turned it down the rest of the way...when you drill out the bolt holes...use a press to get them straight or you will have a problem getting the wheel to fit over the studs! <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

Thanks guys, I think that I am just going to convert mine. A good friend of mine that is in the know says that out there in the real world that the dually stuff is alot more valuable and that I should'nt have any problem getting a wrecking yard to swap with me. I am going to try that and if no swap then I will convert them.

The same thing all these folks have been saying. Turn the ears off the hub, drill out the rotor holes and the threaded holes in the hubs to accept standard single wheel studs. It's soemthing you need a machine shop to do. I have a friend who owns one that did it for me. He also turned the edges that the wheel would be riding on level since they weren't machined flat fromt he factory. I can get the holes sizes if you want.

Yep, thats how im doing it, cut off dually wheel mounting flange, have it machined down, drill out those hub/rotor bolt holes, insert studs, and be done. Finding a single wheel hub would be great, but I dont have the time to look for any, and the Salvage yard idiots around here would swear all day that it wouldn't work, just like the D60's I got wouldn't fit under a Toyota <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> ,Duh, dont ask me why im buying your parts, just sell em too me. Anyway, thats another story.

I went to a yard once who wouldn't even look for solid front axles for me, saying that I was crazy because Dodge stopped putting solid fronts in 4wd trucks in the 50's, Chevy quit in the 70's, and Ford never did. I swear, there comes a point when you just HAVE to cut down on the crack and come back to reality!
