: Suspension lifts?

My fiance has an 07' FJ, and is bugging me about a lift for it. This is mainly just a grocery getter / DD that might see light trail duty. I'm also going to throw an All-Pro bumper on the front (no winch) as we live in deer country, and I've already had to replace the grill once. Anyway I was looking at the Toytech 3"
* (2) front lift coil springs
* (2) Toytec top plate spacers for full 3" front lift with coil springs
* (6) top plate studs
* (2) 2" Lift Rear ToyTec custom "stock ride" coil springs
with OME medium coils for the front (to offset the bumper weight). Then throw a set of 285's on the stock rims. Does this sound like a good plan? What else would I need to complete this kit?

I have a built TJ that I do all my own work on, just not familiar with what works on the FJ's, lift vs. tire size, etc.

Not to sound like a smart ass, but why lift it if it only "might see light trail duty"?

To answer your question, I run 285s with that same size lift ( 3" front and 2" rear ) and I don't have any problems with rubbin.

If you want a budget lift I'd suggest the OME setup for $695 and you'll fit a 285 with no problems. We have those on the shelf ready to ship here at All Pro

Thanks Terry, I might just order one from ya'll. I need to figure out what front coils to run with your winch bumper, minus the winch. Can't wait for my bumper to arrive.

Because that's what my finance wants. Well that, and I can't leave anything unmodified. Besides, an AP bumper just wouldn't look right on a stock height FJ. :flipoff2:

:flipoff2: Didn't you just sell an Explorer that saw the same kind of stuff that this FJ will? I already have a TJ that I can play on the trails with, and not have to worry about beating up this brand new DD.

Shit, I knew that, guess Firefox spell check has never heard of one of those. I thought I was spelling it right, and then didn't pay attention when I changed it with the spell checker. Guess I just need to get married, since WIFE is easier to spell.

The springs I'd recommend are Meduims front & rear, the heavies would make it ride like a pogo stick! This was mine when I was testing out the OME's:

Thanks Terry. I ended up going with a Toytec lift OME 885's up front, with the Toytec 2" springs in the rear. Easiest lift I've ever installed. Sorry I didn't go with an All Pro lift, but Toytec was cheaper, and more in line with what we needed.

We also sell a complete set up for the FJ's as well. 2.5" bolt in coilovers and uniball upper arms up front. 2.0 rear shocks and high travel rear springs in the rear.
We are also giving a 10% discount to all Pirate 4x4 readers!
