ok peepoles this is a poll...
I know there are a lot of businesses on here - so who is willing to pay for a banner so we can guarantee no more popups and have banners that people will be excited to click on while keeping pirate4x4.com afloat!
Please only serious replies! Feedback needed asap. Contact me or Lance if you don't want to reply.

What is it worth to you? Let's be fair, I can call around and see the going rate but what I am looking to do is a pilot month so catch me at brandon@pirate4x4.com with what you think a fair price for the month.
Just off of the top of my head thinking of rotating maybe 5 banners for the month. Possibly placing a percentage on em so the top 5 bids I get have their banner and the highest bid gets their banner ran the most.
Give it a month, I am pretty excited about this - never did like those corny banners we got now..
This 'might' give me and Lance the incentive to work on the rest of the site and be a real competitor on the net! Largest portion would go to the club but some would go to me and Lance who have been working on this site for years just for the love of it..
A little incentive goes a loooong way..
So there is it, with club approval (so this is not a definate) 5 highest bids get their banners for the month of november as a test run. Therefore accepting bids till halloween <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
That month will allow us to work out details for future months, etc..

I'm very interested. But I want to know a general price so that I don't make a fool of myself. Remember I'm in business for my self because I'm a cheap bastard.

Just as a point of reference.... When I left ORC it charged a min of $100 per month for adding a vendor to the banner rotation. Those that paid more had banners that would run more often and in more than one section.
Another option for generating income is having section sponsors. A vendor would pay a monthly fee in exchange the vendor would get it's logo placed in a given page or section and the logo would be linked to the vendor site.
My wife works for E*Trade, her department charges $25 per 1000 impressions.
I know this aint E*Trade but just some info

Let me see.. 7800 members of this BBS all talking about wheeling and 4x4 tech, almost always 150 people online not to mention those surfing the rest of the site. If I had a 4x4 related business I would be crazy not to have a banner on this site. Talk about direct marketing to you target customer... When I had an active ecommerce site I paid 25-30 bucks per 1000 impressions and who knows where, when and who saw them. At least here you are advertising a 4x4 related part or service to a 4x4 owner and not a random person on the web.
Come Awn vendors support these guys they have been busting their butts to grow this site its about time it pays for itself and who knows maybe the site can give back a little to the users in the form of MORE monthly contests...
Thumbs Up to High Angle Driveline for their contest how about a few other vendors following suit...

Brandon -
The online advertising market is still super tough right now. I wish you all the luck.
Maybe you could post your montly stats for daily unique visitors and page views. That might help get some folk interested in seeing how many people actually visit the site. Of course you don't have to give away all you numbers, but it may help.
Heck, I know my site is not the greatest, but it gets more daily traffic than many of the companies I have talked to get all month and they still won't pay $4 per 1,000 impressions, rotating or fixed.
