I've started to notice a slight change in the shift between 1st and 2nd in my 99 CTD 3500 (auto) lately. Transmission has about 75,000 miles on it (replaced by dealer with a new one at 48,000 due to a mis-diagnosed driveshaft issue) Fluid looks good but I feel like it is starting to slip just a but. I pulled my Edge EZ (set on lowest setting) to see if it made any diference - nope. 1st question - time to take it in and have it scanned? 2nd question - check engine light is now on. I think I just need to disconnect the batteries to reset as a result of disconnecting the Edge. Sound right? Thanks in advance.

I'd be using a scan tool to see what codes have been set to cause the check engine light to come on. You could find tranny codes or something else that would be related to the Edge, but you won't know until you scan it.

go to Advanced and pull the codes if you don't own a scaner
You can cycle the sitch off and on 3 times, leaving it on the 3rd time and the codes will flash on the odometer. Jot them down and google it.

My Edge EZ has never thrown a code when disconnecting it.

OK - check engine light is off. Took it to town and had the codes read. Only came up with P0237 "input voltage for boost pressure secsor"A" is too low for the currentengine operating conditions". Nothing about the trans or shift points. Ideas?

If you still had your boost elbow in while you had your EZ disconnected, you could have exceeded 20 psi and thrown an overboost code. I'm not sure if the p0237 code is for overboost, but that would be my guess.

Doesn't the Edge EZ plug in between the map sensor and the wiring harness?
The code was for the voltage being too low. I would think that this would possibly be more of a connection issue at the map sensor if the EZ does indeed go in between the sensor and the stock harness.
