well decided to get rid of my 00 z71, looking around the 2 better deals that ive found is a 07 CTD w/ the 5.9 and 7k miles for $27K after trade in. The other being a 04 CTD with 45k miles for $21.5k from a private seller (then id sell mine off for $7.5k or so), both SLTs, but the 07 is practically looks like it came off the factory. So what do you guys think better bang for the buck? The 04 is in real good shape also just a little scatch on the bed and its a 04 not 04.5.

I like the interior of the 06 and 07's better and the small details on the out side like the headlights and tail lights

the 04 (pre-04.5) tend to get a little better mileage if that concerns you.

but you are talking a difference of 20hp/45tq and a slightly different interior for roughly $13k more with the 07...

i would def go with the 04 and sell the Z71 outright

I would go with the 07 personally. For 5.5K you get 38K less miles and a 3 year newer truck. If you can spring the extra dough then you will get most of it back when you sell it plus you have a newer truck for yourself with more of a warranty, 3 less years on the paint and such.

I'm for the 04. The 07 eventhough ist's a 5.9 still has more emissions crap and requires ULSD. personally, I can't stand the interiors after 05. I think DC trid to use the same 3 pod design on all of their vehicles and just adjusted for size.

I don't think the 5.9 ever came with the emissions crap as they were produced before Jan 1st 2007, even though they were a 07 model. The emissions crap was put on when the 6.7l was introduced.

I like the 04 better. The 07 has those ugly ass headlights and ultra quiet engine.... IE... L A M E!!!!

If your truck is really worth $7500, the 07 doesn't sound like a very good deal. They basicly want $34k for a used truck, might as well get a new one. If your financing you will probably get a better interest rate on a new one also.

Buy the 04. Seems like a no brainer... 45k miles aint nothing.

I know that the 07 5.9 doesn't have the emissions stuff installed and is exempt, but i wonder how you go about trying to tell your state that your 2007 MODEL YEAR truck is emissions exempt (old motor before 1-1-07). I don't believe they keep track of build date, if its an 07 MY then you will prolly be getting emissions testing letters every 2 years.

I just realized that the 07's price tag of 27K was after trade in. Then easy choice is the 04. Essentially you will save 30% off a new truck and it is not a third used yet.

First off is it a 235hp, 250hp or 305hp. They made all 3 in 2004

I have a 03-04 (305hp) and wish everyday that I could get the newer "600" engine.

Fuck if you can get that 07 for $5,000 more then the 04 then do it, I would. There is alot of improvment over the years and you can tell a big difference between the 2 especially if its a 235hp vs 325hp.

Are you going to keep it 100% stock or are you going to throw a few mods at it. If you plan on modding then definetly get the 07 or it will cost you about $5,000+ playing catch up and may never reach the same hp level dollar for dollar.

Yeah I like my 03, it was cheap and a manual and it sure can make power but if I had the choice to do it all over again I would of saved up for a 05.

The best thing for you to do is to drive both since ther are not alike.

The only difference in emmisions between 04 and 07 is that they added a cat in 04.5+

I see alot of people bashing the 07 for the lamest reasons.....quiter engine???????? what the fuck ever......

So you going to pass on an extra 100hp based on the engine is quiter and they changed to a larger headlight :flipoff2::flipoff2:

If you get the 04 be prepared to fix all of the recalls, and common problems found on the 04 vs 07.

There's tons and tons of info out there and I wouldnt base my decission based on what a few retards at pirate4x4 said :)

I have a 04.5 and I have only had it for a couple of weeks but my buddy has a 07 with about 13k on it and my truck is a slight bit faster and gets the same mileage, He paid 32 for his I paid 23 for mine with 60K Both of ours are 1 ton single rear wheel H.O.'s, It's a diesel its gonna go for atleast 200k. I would go for the 04 and sell your truck you are gonna be into alot less in the long run. Oh and if you plan on towing with it you might do some research on what tranny is in it depending on weather it's a 6 speed or automatic. Both mine and my buddys are 6 speeds but different trannys mine shifts alittle smoother reverse is in a different spot not sure if there is any strength differences....................

When I bought my 6spd I was warned about some of them wiping 6th off of the main shaft with "excessive" towing. I haven't had a problem with my G56. I think this was a problem with the older NV5600.

I tow with an '07 5.9...the '07 you're looking at isn't that good of a deal really. $27K after trade in...the '04 is $21.5K before trade in...sell your Z-71 for $7.5K = $14,000

$13K difference for 3 years and 38K miles...I'd go for the '04. It's definitely better bang for the buck. If you're using it to tow instead of race stop light to stop light, you should have plenty of power.
