Just like the title says, my 1996 360/5.9 is blowing white-ish smoke at higher RPMs (from 2500 up). I have also noticed that my oil pressure is dropping off at lower rpms. Could these two things be related? Am I looking at a teardown and rebuild?

Ive never be a real motor head, so I dont really know my way around these things. What can I do to diagnose what is wrong?

And yes, Im doing other research on this also.

Thanks yall.

Well, I did recently the intake off in order to fix the plenum gasket. Think maybe I botched the reinstall? When I had the intake off, I replaced the stock plenum pan(?) with a new aluminum one from Hughes. I also 'clearanced' the stock beerbarel intake and opened the runners a bit.

Pull the spark plugs on the front two and back two cylinders. They will be very clean if there washed with coolant.

Finally got my plugs changed. Did the wires, cap and rotor while I was in there. Pulled some ugly looking plugs. Im looking too, but what do y'all think is going on with this motor? And one last question: Is the plenum supposed to be dry? Cause mine has a light misting of something on it. And Im willing to bet its oil.

When you say the plenum, you're looking down the throttle body into the intake right? If so, that should be dry. It is a somewhat common problem for the Mopar magnum motors to have the plenum gasket blow out causing oil to get sucked into the intake from the bottom side.

Looking at your plugs I think you might be on the right track with the intake plenum gasket. I would start by resealing that and then see if your motor is still smoking or not.

Yea, I figured as much. And I did the plenum gasket fix with the plate from Hughes. Guess I goofed somewhere. Guess Ill have to R&R the damn thing.
