Megolfer, let me know if you'd like some help getting through the TLCA Chapter process. Also, I would be glad to help with any club organization questions. MTA has been a club for 30 years, and I've been a member for 7.

We will be sending in all the info the beginning of January. We are not official as of yet. We have only been up and running as a club for about 2 months. I am in the process of getting TLCA numbers and dues for all the members setup.

I think I have all the paperwork. From the emails I got, the only paperwork that we need is the bylaws, club in good standing. Is there anything else.

I am sure you've seen this, but for others who may be reading:
As posted on TLCA.org

CHAPTERS
>Minimum of six (6) individual TLCA members, in good standing, who are owner/operators may submit an application to be a Chapter.
>Must submit bylaws for BOD approval prior to being voted upon for chapter membership.
>Must submit a formal letter of application to the TLCA BOD.
>Privileges of chapters:
--Entitled to advertising privileges and discounts in the Toyota Trails.
--Invited to all regularly scheduled BOD meetings.
--Invited to participate in all TLCA hosted, sanctioned, Rally and Open events.
--Entitled to one voting delegate at all TLCA BOD meetings.
--Access to coverage by TLCA insurance.
--Access to the Sponsoring of events by TLCA.
>Chapter rosters may not exceed 30 percent associate/non Toyota membership. The associate/non Toyota membership may never constitute a quorum for any meeting.
>All chapter members, i.e. Toyota owners, must join TLCA.
-------------------------------------------------------

This is completely seperate from TLCA Chapter status, but if you plan to collect dues, host events for fundraising, etc., you may have to file to become a Non-Profit Organization.

also to build on Phil's note, no actual letter is needed, just contact TLCA with your by laws (which note to support TLCA and require TLCA membership), your list of at least 6 members and your desire to join...

Good job on getting the club up and running.

Hope to see you folks at the various TLCA events this year!

A little update on this. We currently have 18 members and seem to be getting the word out. I have sent a email to TLCA membership and waiting for a response. I have the Club in good Standing filled out and the bylaws are done. We have a website up and running and a Forum setup on Mud. Hopefully we will be official soon.
