Call me a chicken if you will, but I would put a couple jack stands under the front of that Jeep for added safety before I climbed under it.

BTW, nice hood, but someone stole half your Jeep.

Unless you don't care about your arms, legs, or life, I would put some extra support under that front end.

Cool hood idea, guess it would work if you had a massive engine in it like a big block or somthing. Otherwise I couldn't see the point of the hood.

But cool idea and good fabbing.

EDIT: Just saw you had the front end held up be chains, still maybe put a jack or two down there and you'll be good.

thats the best i got of the front of it, the point of the hood is im tired of buying hoods after each ride, this way i can just replace each panel as they get distroyed.

very unique, haven't seen anything much like it. I think it's one of those new things that will grow on people.

good job.

stick and and a half of tubing at about 60 bucks and a sheet of prepainted aluminum at 70 bucks. pretty cheap compared to what ive spent at the junk yard for stock hoods.

what about that big gap above the fenders? are you going to add sheet metal right there? maybe with the tube fenders?

great idea on the hood, but how do you manage to just damage the hood when your wheelin?

I Remove The Windsheild, And The Gray On The Side Of The Jeep Is 1/4" Steel Tied Into The Cage So And My Tires Stick Out So Far That The Hood Seems To Be The Only Thing That Touches When It Rolls.

the point of one of those big boner stingers like you have is to make a bridge between the upper cage thereby protecting the hod and motor. YOurs sticks out plenty far, maybe try angling it up a bit.

nice hood. cool fab work.

but maybe you should just learn to drive better :flipoff2:

:D

also, I'm not gettin the point of that stinger either. unless you just like poking other rigs on the trail.

that's what STINGERS are for.............to protect the hood/engine:flipoff2:

i just ran some tube along the sides of the hood to help keep it off the rocks:

And they work too... I've seen him bash'n drag them through stuff without so much as a scratch to the hood. Granted it's just a freakin hood, but hey it's nearly the only YJ thing left on his rig.

By the way I dig the tube hood, it may not be everybody, some will say it's ugly but... fawk'm... it's different and I like it.

I think the lines need to extend through the cowl. If I were to build a hood like that I would tear out the cowl and make the hood hinge at the glass. I like the idea though.

Looks pretty cool. Is there a reason you didn't make it come all the way down to the fenders at the front?

I dig the hood! :smokin: But I think your stinger is your real problem it should come up above your hoodline. That way your stinger and your roll cage hits first. Now you will be crushing your cowl\hinges and grill.

I like it too just think it would look better if there wasn't that gap by the grill. But cool idea and great craftmanship.
How heavy is it?
