hey I was just wondering what everyone was doing to protect their frames from rocks and rust and all the s**t that get under your rigs. My frame right now is striped down to the metal and I want to put some sort of protective coating on it,
any info would help
Thanx Chubby:smokin:

as for coating i persoanlly would not do anything but paint it. the one thing i would do is buy a piece of flat strap maybe 1/4" thick, maybe alittle thinner, and weld it onto the bottom of the frame rails under the zuk. not reall the whole thing but just the part under the sami that will be bashed by rocks. i have noticed on some sami's i wheel with that the frames can and will dent when bashed in the rocks. the added thickness of the flat strap would help prevent this.

i don't own a sami but i run with a few guys who do and it is just an idea i had after seeing thier frames get abused.

3 words: Move to Arizona. My frame rails are bare on the underside, everything I have sprayed them with eventually gets scraped off due to the rocks. I guess if it were a daily driver I'd just use a can of that spary on undercoating you can get at the auto parts stores. Held up good on my floors.

Except during the summer! :D
I saw the thread about the melting Swampers.... 176 deg road temp. Now that's cookin' :(

Just rattle can it. You'll end up grinding it off and changing things by next year.. ;) :D
That undercoat stuff really stinks as you burn it off with the welder... :rasta:

the under coating stuff realy sucks when you go to make changes to your rig. the best way I have found to take the under coating off is to use a wire wheel on a hand grinder and clean it down to the bare metal.

what I'm trying to say is rattle can it.
