I have a 2000 WJ Limited with the 4.7. Been a great vehicle and currently has 149k on the clock and never really gave me any major problems, that is until recently. This is a very sparatic issue, but i will be cruising down the road and everything is fine, and then all of a sudden all the gauges go dead and the engine starts to stumble really bad. The radio and A/C fan run like there is nothing wrong and as soon as it happens it can stop and run fine again. I think maybe alt. or battery, tested the alt. its fine, swapped and put an optima outta my YJ in there and same deal. Traced ground wires and they all looked good. Any other suggestions??

hmmm not sure, but my wife experienced something similar on our WJ, the car died, and she pulle dover started and no problems since. I did a full check on the irg and everything seemed fine. I also replaced fluids, checked sensnors, plugs, etc. When was the last time you replaced spark plugs?

prolly bout 40k miles since plugs were replaced, but I dont think the plugs would cause the gauges to be so crazy, all the gauges, volts, oil pressure fuel temp all go to zero and the odometer flashes like crazy. still no idea what it could be, almost sounds like a bad connection somewhere but i have traced the ground wires from the battery and from the alt. and they all seem fine. It has me stumped.
