If you have a YJ SOA, and use waggy springs to move the axle back 2 inches, and use a 14 bolt rear end, would the diff hit the gas tank?

If anyone knows, let me know.

Only if you jump it...other than that, you should be fine.

Not when using 44044s :D. Even when jumping it a little :D

Should note that I am going to use stock waggy springs, not 44044s - trying to keep it as low as possible. Does this change things, or should it still fit? I hope to get the springs basically flat at rest.

i used stock waggys and i have a d60 in the rear SOA on a YJ and i had to move the gas tank, it hit the cover at full compression of both wheels, and i never jumped it, just coming off of the tires i was climbing on in the back yard to find out shock legths and stuff. i ended up moving it up 11 inches, theres a post on the jeep forum

Thanks RockReady, I had a look at your excellent pictures and mod. I think i am simply going to try mine and if it hits, then I'll mod from there. In my case it's kinda important to have the rear seat, i take my kids often - which makes it kinda important to be careful about gas etc etc. I like what you've done, I will just have to wait and see how it turns out for me.

How did you find the lift with the stock springs? I am running stock YJ springs with doubled mains, they are completely flat at rest. I want it to be the same after the spring change - the change is to move the axles, I DON'T want more lift. How did you find it on yours? Are the springs flat??

Thanks.

Chad

then i would suggest getting the 5 leaf waggys, i have them in the rear and they have sagged out to almost flat, not quite but close, i suspect after a few wheelin trips and some spring wrap they will be pretty much flat, i have the 6 leaf packs up front and plan on finding another set for the rear. there are a couple different ways to raise your tank also, you might even be able to massage the gas tank skid a little with a BFH to keep it clear from the diff cover. it didn't hit much.

BFH, yeah I'm up with that

(in red green voice)

course it's just a temporary solution, unless it works

Thanks.
