I talked to Eaton yesterday about their Elocker, in 2 years they might have one for cruisers. They told me if I wanted to go the electric route that I could use a TRD tacoma's locker or a 80 series cruiser locker. Is there any truth to this and what would be the ups and downs of doing this. Thanks:beer:  :usa:

IIRC, it's an 80-series rear electric locker....there are tech links on my site. Must be installed in a full float axle (IE stock FJ40 front, NOT a clip rear)

The stock lockers out of a FJ80 are the way to go. Check the dealer, there are cheap ( I recall $650 or so) for the whole 3rd menber gears and all. And you dont have to pay someone to set it up for you.

Pass on the $650 info if you know where to get them for that price... I heard over 1K.

The days of the $850 electric locker fron Toyota are gone. Current pricing has the third member for the dealer at over $925, so I doubt any one of the discounters will sell for under $1,000.
buy your H55 soon because those might jump too.

Why buy only a locker when you can have the whole full floating axle with disc brakes? Jump on car-parts.com - they list 20+ FZJ80 rear axles ranging from $800 - $1500, there's bound to be one at a yard near you!

Brian-
Can you live with 5" wider that FJ60 rear axles? Thats the offset for rear 80 series!

Hrmmmm, suppose for some that is a bit wide.:)
I run the FJ80 front end on my runner, and a full floater from a 1 ton mini out back, Bushwaker cutouts don't even cover em'.
Run on over to car-parts.com.... They have diffs only, the cheapest 3rd listed is $450.... one could probably get em' down on price.
