Ok, I expect to get flamed pretty hard here, but if this engine is what I am thinking it is, then there maybe some ideas for some of u guys building these tightly packaged buggies. I was tooling around on the Yamaha website looking for a Rhino and got into their outboard motor page. The first thing I saw was a 5.3 liter, 4 stroke V8 outboard. This struck a little interest for me so I started digging around for more info on this outboard.
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/products/subcatspecs/81/specs.aspx
It is listed as a 60 degree V8, 325 ci. displacement, is this a reworked GM powerplant used as an outboard? The benefits for u guys was that it is using a reversed intake/exhaust system. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/feat_fourstr_v8.aspx
Intake runners run down to the outside of the heads and the exhaust exits through the center of the engine were a normal intake would be. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/feat_fourstr_v8.aspx Says they did this for better packaging benefits. I could be totally newbing out here but I thought that it may interest some of u if this setup could be used in a tightly packed buggy since I see some of u in your builds having trouble with intake and exhaust interefering with other things. Either way, have fun.:flipoff2:

FUCK NO! Its nothing from the general. The GM 5.3L is a 90* V8 and isn't a DOHC!

Maybe you were thinking about the Chevy 60 degree 2.8, 3.1, & 3.4L motors?
