I like the frame brackets with the bent stuff, but at the same time i don't like how they connect to the 2x4 slider, they hang lower, so they will be hit more then the actual slider

(you ask for my opion) :D

The attachment kept me up at night. I wanted a flat belly but at the same time I wanted them to be strong. I didn't want to just butt weld them on so this is how I went.

I'm thinking about bolting on some sheet metal accross the arms all the way to the skiis. Either 3/16" steel or 1/4" aluminum depending on the cost.

I cut out the old rocker panels and just welded some 4x4 tube to take the place of it. Right to the sheet metal, not even back to the frame. I dropped off a big rock in Old Sluice once from about 3 feet and barely dented it. Used the High lift off it and rolled it off about everything. Never did give me any trouble and the 'skied' with out hanging up. I think putting them to the frame is overkill myself but that's some nice looking work.

Mine is the same, off the body, I came down from about 2 feet on mine did not crack the welds good enough

Jack,
I would just get some 2 inch wide 3/16, and make a small ramp on the sides of those, that would be good enought to no hang, but hopefully slide

Mine are mounted to the body as well. One bracket goes to where the door hinge bolted to and the other is bolted to some kinda body brace in the back. I have hit them HARD and no problemo.

How do you attach the rockski's if you have a 77 with the gas tank under the drivers side. I really want to get a pair of those under my truck, but the flippin gas tank sits in the way.

Pull the tank...you can't even really cut the rockers off effectively if you keep that POS saddle tank... just ditch it... you'll just tear it up anyway...

Yup, no side tank. Had to get rid of it if I wanted to mount it to the frame.

And I know a lot of you guys are mounting to the body, but at the Fathers Day Rubi run all of the guys that I spoke with that had them mounted to the body said they wished they mounted it to the frame.

So how big is the side tank in comaprison to the back tank. I like having 2 tanks, but I also need the room under the truck. I am thinking fuel cell under the back somehow.

I pulled both my tanks and installed my "fuel cell" in the bed... it's actually a 32 gallon siamese propane tank... but it left anough room under the truck to do whatever I want... winch/suspension wise...

My front is (was) 8 gallons and the rear 12. 20 gallons wasn't enough, 12 gallons will be a challenge.

I'm going to build a tank that takes advantage of a lot of unused room. For instance above the frame where the body lift gave me extra room. I'll have to take the pucks out of the frame in the back to get it on and off, but how often do you have to take them on and off?

If I can get a 20 gallon tank back there without having it hand down really low I'll be happy.

The tank in the bed would be nice, but I usually pack a lot of gear and have a rear seat. Space is a challenge as it is...

Are you making your tank from Aluminum?

what about a stock bronco2 tank? 23 gallons. i dont really know how it compares to the others about hanging low, but if you grab one you might be able to get the stock skidplate with it.

I am trying to figure out how to put a bigger gas tank under the back of my rig. I am gonna be driving this thing daily, and I need the tank outside the truck. I would love to get a tank that fits under the rear of the truck, as long as it is better

The WH one, I have it, it like 20 gallons, for a body lift, fits up there nicly

I'd love to make the tank out of aluminum but I can't weld aluminum so that is out. So I'm going to go with a 16 or 18 guage body and a 3/16 skid on the bottom.

Bronco II aye? Anybody have the dimensions on them?

I dig the Wild Horses tank, but as for everything else they sell, it's pricey as hell.

Sweet. Have you used them yet? How are they holding up? I was worried about only having 2 arms at that span.

Oh yeah, :flipoff2: stop copying my design!!!!! ha ha
