My 92 has a NV3500 5 speed with a NP241 case and i want to put a chevy axle in it. I searched but no good answer... Are there any old chevy cases (208, 203, 205, ect.) passenger side drop that will fit this thing and be "bolt up"?

My 92 has a NV3500 5 speed with a NP241 case and i want to put a chevy axle in it. I searched but one thread said the ZR2 case fits, but all s10's are drivers drop? Are there any old chevy cases (208, 203, 205, ect.) passenger side drop that will fit this thing and be "bolt up"?you dont want a zr2 case. you want a 241 from a solid axle truck.
you can also run just about any 6 bolt round chevy case (late 205, 208, 241) and even some other ones such as a d300 (with a little help). all s10 cases are drivers drop, and the zr2 was is probably the worse, its a 233, electric shift, etc.

the thing to look for is the correct input shaft spline count. i dont know about fs, but s10 nv3500's are 27 spline, so any fs case that came behind a 700r4 should work with the right adapter.

I didn't think 241's came in a straight axle truck. Are there any clues one could give me to find a 241 in a 73-87? Example did a 241 come behind a TH350, TH400, SM465? What year was it introduced?

or am I stoned?all the manuals in s10's are 27 spline such as my t5. the t5 was never put behind anything bigger than a 2.8 in an s10, and the 3500's were the "upgrade" and came behind the 4.3's. there is no 23 spline 231c, and no 32 spline one either. therefore it must be 27 spline, especially considering the 231"hd" that is the first case in my "box for rocks" came behind a 4.3 and is 27 spline. but that is all i know, take what you will.

ahhh ok... i was working on jeeps.. that used an np231 with a 23 spline input... I think

with that idea, why couldnt you use the jeep 3500 output shaft and a Dana 300 out of a jeep for a drivers drop?

or am i completely stoned?

If it is in a full size it will be a 32 spline, round bolt pattern
But I thought it was a 3550 in the full size:confused:

i just remember from working on dodges... ive been lucky enough not to work on the s10 stuff... its gotta be easier than a dakota/durango tranny swap.

nv 3500 (aka hm290, 5lm60) is a 32 spline non remavable bell housing. have 3 in pieces in my shop. they suck!!

I have a NV3500/NP241C in my FSJ. Gotta say I like it quite a bit. Anyhow, it is definitely 32 spline output. If you have an external slave, you could run into driveshaft clearance issues with it using a passenger side drop TC.

interesting, there are a 27 and 32 spline versions...hmmm

This is my first build-up and i plan to put a good thumping SBC in it, so if these things are weak i might swap it out for a TH400 and about a 3000 stall converter. I don't crawl, i just want it quick out of the hole. So that will solve all of my problems, now to find a 32 spline 205.

if you want to be quick, get an auto
