Well, actually it's all of YOUR tax dollars! Saved every penny of it while I was in Argentina this spring on "Official Business"

As for the time crunch, well, how do I put it? ARE YOU ON DRUGS?

Uncle Sam keeps me plenty busy. As a matter of fact, i'm off to Peru in Aug and definately won't have this thing on the road before then. Looks like a "long term project" Later!

I get a kick out of all of you kicking around RRO. I'll bet you my KADS that 50% of you have never even ordered from there! I expect every part to be sitting here when I get back from Peru.

Sometimes you just need to shut the fawk up and leave people alone. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Actually fatty, it's the best that YOUR money can buy. Gotta love the Government! :usa: I travel all over Latin America, see exotic lands (women and  too!) and it's all on tax dollars. Man, does my job suck! :flipoff2:

As for the axels, gonna stick with stock and birf rings for a while. (yea, I know :nuke: ) As much as I wheel, (twice a month when i'm not south of the border) I'm gonna give it a shot and see what happens. I'll probably regret it. If you haven't noticed, Samit is switching to Toy axels (I think). I don't know it it's because of prior breakage, or just additional piece of mind. Hopefully he'll post and let us know.

Yea, i'm a newbie, and I'll learn from my mistakes. But isn't that the fun part? I'm sure once I break something, you will be the first person I think of saying "All that on stock Sammy axels?"

Oh, one last thing fatty. I would trade half the shite I just bought for half of the mechanical skill that you have. Your rig is gonna rock!

Everyone needs to learn how to change a birf on the trial... It's like a right of passage to the Sami world... :)

Besides, everyone has to start somewhere. I started out with a 5" Calmin lift. It's all laying in the back yard now, but it got me my first year of wheelin'. It looks like you have been watching closely and have learned well. You've got some cool stuff on the way. :p

Don't forget to give back... We expect writeup/comment and pics of the progress. That's a lot of 'bolt on' stuff, much of which other newbies would be interested in knowing how it goes together...

If you work for uncle sam, I'm sure you could just take a month off and put that beast together... You gotta have lots of vacation time burning a hole in your pocket.. ;)

Just as long as you don't put on boogers, we won't flame you too bad. :D :D

Ok Bill, you got me on that one. That was a pretty :rainbow: comment. I would trade it all, but then what would that leave me? I'd be worse off than I am now, no parts, no tools, and a ton of knowledge going to waste.

Hey Mark,
Thanks for the words of confidence (1  for you!), and I'm sure i'll end up changing a birf or two. As for the vacation, you gotta be kidding! I have about 75 days vacation due to me. But if it were so easy to take vacation, I wouldn't have 75 days saved up!

No worries, I'm not a bogger guy. I like to be able to hear myself think while "driving" to the trail. I just run AT's cause thay work fine here.

I have ordered from RRO. Didn't get parts. Cancelled order. No hard feelings. I eat elsewhere.

I have run stock Zuk axles up to 33" TSLs for years and anly broke 3 axles in 10 feet on Fordyce.. Well, Kessler did it (Thanks, Outlaw). One rear in the Sluice. So many fronts that I can swap them in about 12 minutes.. Especially if the wheels are already in the air.

My solution... 35" Boggers. Figured I would take all of my angst out on the stock axles. That really took the wind outta the axles.. I showed them, I did.

So, I got serious and called Brent at Trail Tough.. great guy. I am running the double tough axles.. floater in rear.. bigger birfields and 4340 Dutchman axles (come with it). Now, everything around the axles is letting go.. Hubs.. Diffs, springs... and my patience, too. Pick you r poison. I am amazed at the strength of the axles.. and I am still stock width and weight. All the peripheral stuff is easy compared to dislodging a stuck spline in a side gear....

So, there's my .20 on the stock axle saga. They're fine with a 1.3 as long as you don't turn and are running 33's or smaller.

Does anyone have a tried and true way to ensure that you weld your lower shock/coil spring mounts at the exact same exact angle? I'm game for anything.

Lonny, Shrock, and Rockrat, Thanks to all of you, you guys ROCK!

Hey Lonny, what angle do you have your rear axle set at with the coil susp? Most of all, does it work well for you or would you change it if you could? Thanks ahead of time.

:usa: :beret:

With the coil mounts at zero my pinion angle is 15 degrees. The only problem is that the ylink comes down at about 8 degrees which puts the ylink bushing into the diff at an angle which causes it to eat bushings.

I will be trying out urethane bushings instead of the rubber this next weekend. If that doesnt work i will grind off some welds and change the angle of the truss thing on the housing to match the ylink.

Thanks Lonny, I'll be waiting to find out if this helps. I'm trying to gather as much info on the y-link mount as possible. I see this as the one sure place to do my homework before I start on mine. Thanks again!
