: Please tell me why???
Wilseya 10-26-2001, 04:44 AM I have an 81 Cj-5 with a 4 inch pro comp lift and confer shackels. when standing in front of my jeep the shackles lean towards the driviers side of the rig. I also have prothane bushings in the springs and the shackles. This set up is about 1 year old is this a common problem? What needs to be done to correct it?? Thanks for all your help Welseya.
um uh somethings bent? gotta pic?
BabyWrangle 10-26-2001, 09:42 AM Doesn't sound too good if both shackes are leaning in the same direction. I'd have to agree with Camo.....something's probably bent. Post pics and we can take a look.
LOPPY 10-26-2001, 09:44 AM Are you still using (if it ever had one) some kind of stabalizer bar? If so, remove it and see what happens. Both shackles going one direction means something is "pushing" it that way.
ranger 10-26-2001, 12:02 PM Every jeep I've seen the rear shackles always lean outward from the frame. Never seen straight up and down set yet!
RCKRATZ 10-26-2001, 01:49 PM They always do that. Check to see if anything is bent....if not, then you probably need to replace the bushings
Cutter 10-26-2001, 02:45 PM turn the steering wheel all the way to one side, look at shackles, turn all the way to the other side, look at shackles. Any change?
The Jerk 10-26-2001, 02:52 PM put your other shoe on u goof, he he, probably bent or sagging spring on that side causing a pull! jiMMy
Wilseya 10-26-2001, 05:27 PM Yes when I turn the wheels both shackles move. I will try and get a good Pic. Thanks again for the info. Jim Aka Wilseya.
Wilseya 10-26-2001, 05:31 PM I think this will show it.

SanDiegoCJ 10-26-2001, 06:23 PM I don't see any pics. On my CJ both on the front and back the shackles look like this
/ \ I've got new springs and new poly
bushings. I've had the alignmaent checked and
the frame. Everything is straight. Go figure.
Wilseya 10-26-2001, 07:16 PM I don't know what I am doing wrong but my pic wont come up. Both my front shackles look like this // my raer ones are fine.
What else do I have to do to up load a pic. I did the copy paste thing and then cliked on the post icon and I get nothing.

NE-RokToy 10-26-2001, 07:31 PM don't worry about it!! if you wheel with other CJ's with longer then stock front shackles and no reversal you will see they are never straight!!!!! I really mean they never are straight

ItsaCJ6 10-27-2001, 07:24 PM Not to seam obtuse but he said its an 1981.. This means it's a late model AMC ... Do I need to say more? AMC had lots of problems with Axle and spring pad locations. Or its bent like you said.
SweetCJ7 10-27-2001, 07:47 PM Okay it is up but it will not show you anything. You need to take one of it on flat ground from the front in the daytime. Then we could see WTF you're talking about. This shot gives us nothing.
Try again.
