I picked up an 88 Sidekick today for $100. The guy thinks it has a seized engine but he's not sure. If it is, what do you think my best options are? Rebuild it, or bolt the 1.6 efi intake on the 1.3? or the 1.6 head/intake etc? I have done some searching and these look like the best options. Also- what else do I want off the kick? (Besides the steering wheel..) Any input greatly appreciated.
Thx:beer:

I would do a complete rebuild on the 1.6L (if you can afford it) That way you can still wheel your Zook too while your getting your new motor ready to drop in.
What should you grab out of the Sidekick?
Computer, ENTIRE wiring harness, power steering set up (if it has it), engine, gas tank with electric fuel pump, tranny bell housing, speedo cluster(needed for 1.6 swap), seats (if they're nice), etc.

BTW Make SURE that it IS a 1.6L since some of the early Sidekicks were only a 1.3L:rolleyes:

I dont really need the power from the 1.6, I'm more interested in the EFI. I'ts a trailer queen with LOW gears. My 1.3 runs good (except inclines) I'm just wondering about any problems I might run into swapping the intake onto the 1.3 Thanks for your help.

Is it a 1.6? I thought some of the early Kicks had 1.3's.

88?? where are you? I thought the kick didin't come out until 89?
Basically, there are others but this is the basics:
1.3L Carb 5.62 gears
1.6L EFI 5 SPeed 5.12's
1.6L Auto 4.62's

You'd love the torque from the 1.6. Even with the low gears. :)
Besides, the 1.6 EFI will be a little rich for the 1.3 motor. Physically, it will bolt right up. But, you'll have to make 'adjustments' to get it running right.
