I'm having a hell of a time with the lower control arms of my '87 hardbody. The "strut rod" (which is nissans term for the lower control arm's support rod that extends back towards the rear of the vehicle) wollowed out the bracket it sits in. I first noticed the problem when the front end started squeaking. Basically the bracket is supposed to have a hole an inch wide, and ended up haveing one 1 1/2" wide and 2" tall. I fabricated and welded the replacement washer that came with the new bushing kit to the front of the bracket so the bracket would be close to what it was pre-damage. the squeaking stopped, the ride was great-for about a day. Now it makes more noise than before. I've heard of other people with pathys and hardbodys having the same problem, but never how/if they fixed it. Who's fixed this problem permanently?

There's a bearing part # on the 4x4parts.com board in the pathy section, I believe. They use two races welded on to repair it. You might want to search/ask there.

if they're poly like yozsi asked, you might need to lube them.
