Hey man been lookin into maybe doing a swap in my Sammy. Everyone says the 4.3 will make it noxe heavy. I see yours has about the same but I was lookin at goin with a turbo 350. How does your wheel and how is the power. Oh yeah planning on toy axles with the wide track kit from front range and 38 boggs on 2in backspaced 8s. Dont need as much wheel travel as you and got plenty of mud and sand to play in, need more power.

I watched a Sammi with 39 boogers snap an FJ-40 axle in the SAND last weekend. Might want to think bigger axles.

I love the 4.3! I want 38-39's and am 84" wb, need to go to 97" feels tippy.

He was probably running old coarse-spline stuff. Although it's quite possible it was mini-tuck stuff. What, you've never seen a truck with 39's snap a 9" or D60 shaft? :eek:
As far as the front range kit, I don't know if I'd bother doing that. I'd swap vented discs (bolt on: 82 FJ-40 rotors, 86-95 IFS Toy calipers) onto the front axle, convert it to discs out back, and call it good.
You can do the vented front rotor swap for about $100, and the rear discs would cost under $200 if you do it right. The only thing that megabucks kit from front range gets you over that is a 3" wider front axle.

p.s. go 4.3L:D I thought it was too much motor, but bought it anyway and no regrets! would go v8 if I ned a motor, just think of it as a small jeep like a cj2a, v8's in those all the time.
