: Ringgear strength

Let's say you have a rear standard cut 44 and what I want to know is at what point when changing your R&P numerically higher does it become weaker than lets say stock axles? If you can answer that do you also know when it becomes a prob in a front 30? I've searched and called around and I want to find a well balanced axle that is designed to break at the axle first if anything. 60's are much later gonna keep the :girly: ones for now they run my 31"s so well:smokin:

4.10's are the break over from 2 teeth on the pinion to one.

I specifically asked GEARMAN about 4.56's in a D30 for the same reason. He said.........don't worry about it. :)

I need 4.10's at least to be where I want to be without putting too much torque on a driveline that's just not designed to take that kind of pressure yet. That be the case I'm back to plan B save for something with 60's strength without losing a ton of clearance. Is that Tera's, Dynatrac, Pic-n'pul and shave the sucker like a bikini line or what. I'm not going over 36" on a DD I was trying to hold back that kind of craziness for a second rig one that gets towed and no more worrying about fenders and crap like that for CHP. Ultimately the plan is to keep tha TJ for the family runs and the other for the ones I don't feel comfy taking the boys to, and the wife doesn't like it too rough.

I'm really sorry to hear that, and definitely TMI

To answer your original question, as soon as you go lower than the factory gearing.

Ummm, I thought you were the advocate of running/building what you already have? You want a second rig to build for the trail? Instead of the TJ? But you already HAVE the TJ!

I have a problem chipping teeth on my TJ with 35 SSR's with the 44 rear. I wouldn't go above 4.10 unless you have a fettish for rebuilding rearends. Or just go with 60's and don't ever worry again :D

Where ever precision makes their junk.... That was the second set to do that:eek:

Can't really blame the gears, gotta blame the drive:laughing: The guys is a nutcase.

FWIW 5.13's in a RC60.

May be I'll get something cool like a Geo Tracker

money isn't really the real issue - wasting money is.
a built TJ is double what a built scrambler will be.
that means when I beat it on rocks it doesn't matter as much....

I got a buddy with a TJ who's got a D44 in the rear and D30 up front. He's also got ox lockers with 4.56's and 33's. I'm just waiting for him to break a couple of teeth off the ring gear so he'll stop talking $hit about everyone else's rig. Especially when he bought his new from the dealership with a 3" teraflex lift, 33's and a winch. he should've save some and put the lift on himself
