A Buddy of mine asked how to do this today, while i know most of it i was not sure of all. He wonts to take his 92 1500 and take of the tb and put on a carb. I know the intake carb and hei, should be good to go but was wondering if the tranny is locked up by the computer are stand on its on like the pre computer Chevy's, and will it effect his instrument cluster?

If you decide to do this I have a factory chevy intake that will bolt to his motor and will allow him to run a carb!!

Should just be the carb adapter, the trans controller is seperate.

Its going to be tough to get a carb adapter from a 2 barrel tbi to a 4 barrel carb.

I think he was referring to the carb intake when he said "intake, carb and hei distributor. '92 model should be the 700r4 tranny so there is no computer controls. Just take excess wires and tuck them back out of the way or cut them off. Not sure about the fuel pump, but it should still come on with the key.

A better ? yet, why on earth would he want to take a step back like that? Most carb'd 4x'ers can't wait to upgrade to fuel injection!

Depending on the type of wheeling. Down here in Louisiana, unless u drive a few hours, u don't have much trail riding and no rocks, only mud. While EFI is a step ahead of carbs, to get the horse power out of EFI that most look for in a mostly mud truck, a carb is far less expensive and way easier to setup and tune.

one its not a 4x4 it 2wd but there are 2 reasons he wonts to switch. he has had a lot of trouble with his FI. He wonts to run abig cam and a lot of power and the fi wont Handel what he wonts to run. he wont around 450hp range.
