: samurai t-case dimensions?
chris97xj 12-19-2007, 05:41 PM I’m looking for the dimension on a samurai T-case. This is for a rear engine transaxle to t-case buggy project I am working on. I know this info is probably on here somewhere, and yes I have tried looking for it, but have have had no luck. I tried looking for one around town but have not been able to(phoenix area). W/o the case or at least the dimensions, unfortunately I am at a stand still with the build. If someone could direct me to that info it would be much appreciated
thanks
toykilla5150 12-19-2007, 05:50 PM are you looking for the over all size? I have a t-case sittin on my garage floor. let me know if u need spacifics. Ill go measure right now.
chris97xj 12-19-2007, 06:26 PM Yea I'm looking for the overall dimensions. LxWxH, weight I'm not worried about. If you also have the mounts, could possibly give me the dimensions of them and also how they are oriented on the tcase so I can have an idea of its size w/ and w/o the mounts.
Thanks a lot.
toykilla5150 12-19-2007, 07:13 PM hope this helps. just let me know if there is anything else:flipoff2:
tommbstone 12-19-2007, 07:18 PM wow toy your a cool dude to do all that for a brother
chris97xj 12-19-2007, 08:18 PM that is so awesome, way more than i was expecting, thank you so much. A few quick questions can the case be mounted that flat or will i have any problems with lubrication or leaking out the shift lever. If im not mistaken the input it a little higher up than the output in a factory mounted application. to help sum up why i ask is because i will be having one of the half shafts from the transaxle connect to the input of the t-case which will be under my seat. and obviously I want as much ground clearance as possible but I also want the seat as close to the frame as possible to keep my center of gravity lowest( I want the case as flat as i can get with the seat above and tube frame below). Would this case be relivent for all sammy years or is it specific?
seriously, thanks again :)
abwmike 12-19-2007, 08:45 PM if you rotate the case 45º CCW from the first picture. then that is how its orientated stock.
toykilla5150 12-19-2007, 08:47 PM you can mount it that flat if you please the i would want to extent the vent up a litle bit for side hilling and get a new (atlest tight fitting) shifter boot for on the case. normaly the case is mounted with the shifter base is level.
THIS IS THE SAME FOR ALL SAMURAI T-CASES! EVEN THE 2WD CASES!
87 sammi 12-19-2007, 09:12 PM toykilla you are the man! those pics are great. just wanted to show some appreciation!
toykilla5150 12-19-2007, 10:11 PM Hey, I just do what I can. I also like this guys idea. There is a pic somewhere on THIS board showing how someone added a zuk case to a FWD trans axle. I just havent found it again yet.
Thanks guys
toykilla5150 12-23-2007, 01:47 PM So your taking about doing something like this? (Pic's i had, not my idea)
chris97xj 12-24-2007, 09:54 PM yea something very similar but instead of directly mounting the case to the transaxle i will be running a half shaft/drive shaft from one side of the trans to the t-case. the t-case is going to be under the seat as you know and the engine will be as far back as possible to the back of the buggy. I saw a good cad pic in a thread of this but it is a little different cause they are wanting to use a VW transaxle. Also Marv Springer did a very similar build with the transaxle to t-case on his second grey fun buggy. I will try my best to find some pics to give you more of an idea. happy holidays by the way
