I saw one of those the other day. I was thinking it would make a good trailer winch.

my tiny 4x don't weight more that 2500 with passengers, gear and  so this lil' 6k lbs winch looks kinda good.

I used one of those to land my fish at spider, after the 3rd one, it smoked.......But at least I was able to get all the fish into one fry pan.

Im sure the # ratings listed on that thing are for rolling loads(boats, lawnmowers, etc...). Dont look like an ass pulling that shiat out on the trail, unless your loading your 4x on the trailer.;)

They work great, I installed one on my sons elecrtic fire engine. Now he can get unstuck when he drives off the curb. Just got to keep telling him he can't use the little girl next down as a winch point.

Does it come with a plug to plug it into my cigarette lighter.

Calm down boys....

As cheesy as they appear at first glance, lotsa tools of this sort have their place. The key to this winch is that itīs portable. You can carry it from one rig to another. You can hook it to the back of a rig. You can hook it ti the SIDE or even the roll cage to get a rig back on all fours after a flip.

Think about it a little bit and I think youīll come to realize that 60 bucks is pretty cheap for that kinda versatility. Granted, itīs no substitute for a "real" winch, but it sometimes will get you out of jambs that your "real" winch canīt.........

6K???? Looks like one of those Harbor Freight hoist winches to me. They are rated at around 500 lbs or so. I doubt it would use like 16 gauge wire and 3/16" cable if it were rated at 6K lbs!

C'mon Stu you can't be fawkin' serious! At first I thought you were just kidding, but now I ain't so sure...

If that is a 6,000 # winch, I'll eat my hat. (Unless, like someone said, that's a 6,000# rolling load on flat ground) Look at a 4-wheeler winch some time. They're usually only around 2,500 pounds (stall limit) ant they're MUCH beefier than that thing. That's gotta be for trailers or something...

I bet the little crank on the side allows you to reel in cable after you've disengaged the motor somehow so you don't have to wait 3 hours for the tiny little motor that's geared down to 700 to 1 to reel it in...

Anyone even THINKING about that POS for ANY type of use on a truck needs to come get in on this land I got down in Florida.

Give me 60 bucks and Ill come pull on a tow strap with one arm once a week for you. I wont move your vehicle, but neither will that piece.

The only thing that would be good for would be MAYBE pulling a stump off the trail. MAYBE!!!!

That winch that you have there is rated 6,000 lbs. rolling load, 1250lbs. single line, and 2500lbs double line. I use the same winch to load cars onto my flat bed. It works it hard for a fullsize but does great on smaller ones. That is if they have four tires on them. :D

I would find a come-along to be a much better choice than that POS. They struggle to pull a loaded 16' Lund up rollers at the cabin....

Frist off, serious or not, this is a chit chat section, no one is going to install that on a rig.

They are car winchs,
YOu see them back east, most mount on a recver hitch, and its small and light to store in your trucnk,, so you can get your self unstuck from the snow.

IT DOES BBELONG ON A RIG

At last, SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS!!!:p

Itīs not and not meant to be your sole means of auto-salvation in a 4x4. Merely another tool for your bag-o-tricks.

A freind of mine has one, in addition to the 12,000 lb winch on the front of his truck. Each has its place. Clearly if you can only have one, go for a real winch. But as a handy walk-around puller, it works well...

You should also invest in some basketball size rocks to carry along in your "bag-o-tricks". Great for throwing under those tires when you get stuck. In fact probably just about as useful as that "winch".

My cousin has one of those on his trailer.. They are worthless on anything bigger than a compact car..I ended up using a come along to load the car ( Roadrunner)I was getting..

Dude, that CABLE isn't even rated at 6 G's. The cable I pop my hood with is beefier than that! I'm not trying to flame, just think about it. 6000 lbs for 60 bucks. Not.

Lots of speculation - How many of you have ACTUALLY used one?

My dad bought me one years ago - I lost it somwhere around the garage :p

Wish I knew where it was right now - Would love to double line the cable with a pulley and use it on my trailer for loading and unloading dead vehicles.

And from someone who HAS used a HiLift to winch a vehicle on a trailer where both front wheeles were locked up.... in 90 degree heat... By myself.....

ANYTHING is better than that! :p

Uh actually we don't use those damn things for that out here...at least I have never seen em.

We usually use a shovel and the go pedal to get unstuck from snow...or call AAA. Thye have those nice PTO winches. ;)

Personally I would only use that to MAYBE hoist something "heavy" in the garage....MAYBE. ;)

My comealong or the highlift is probably a faster method of winching.

That winch is 6000 lbs. for Rolling Stock and only 2000 lbs. for a straight pull. The line speed is 6 feet per minute so if you do need it you will be winding that b-atch all day long. If you are going to get a winch do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again.

oh hell no am i gunna keep that thing on the fromt of my sammi, my truck, looks gay enought as it is!

But this is the kinda thing that can make a rollo alot easier to deal with. Granted there is no substitute for the real thing, but it's another cheap tool that could come in handy.

I think if you cant afford a real winch then that thing is better than nothing...

So for a mere $60, I can add a snatch block and double the line pull to use on my trailer and pull 4k lb rolling load @ 3 ft per minute? Still sounds better than using a HiLift :p

What is funny is that I think that things max pull is about equal to the weight of one corner of my heavy piece of shit! And I don't even have doors or a top any more!!!!

Dude even though you have a Zuki and it may be light, go for a nice long lever quality built come-along with some good cable. that way you do not have to worry about hooking up the bullshit when you have to go into pulling action.
