: Rebuild Tom’s truck
jdjanda 06-27-2002, 10:57 PM Tom,
In light of the recent events, I can offer up a good quality IH truck radiator to use in your rebuild, I’ll kick in half for shipping also. Let me know if you need dimensions, etc or if you need it. And I’ll kick it in for the fund.
Tom, post a list of parts you need, I’ll start keeping an eye out at the yards also.
Anyone else?
Joe
Binderfan2002 06-27-2002, 11:06 PM come to think of it i might know where a front clip is. The pick n pull in rocklin has a few Trucks out there. I will try and get out there somtime next week if you need me to. I have plenty of yards out here i can serch for and i have acsess to UPS to ship parts out without the mark up.

Hey, THANKS, Joe!
'preciate it.
I already had an offer of some sheetmetal from a few Digest and BB guys. most of the molested sheetmetal I need.. short of a hood and a good 74-75 grille, I think.
The radiator, of all things, is probably one of the things hardest to find good-used, but also it's the one thing I had already been thinking of replacing. I was thinking, depending on $$$, of going with a new Hughes 4-row when I put the new IC392 in..
So the rad loss isn't such a painful one, though I had planned on pulling it out at my leisure, or while I had the motor out..
I haven't decided yet if I'm going to go thrash on it and just replace everything as quick as I can and still drive it, or if I should just park it, strip the broken stuff off, and then take my time putting it together - detail the firewall, POR all of the new body panels, and put the motor in before I put in the fenders and such.
Just not sure yet.. I hate the idea of not having my truck to use, but I also hate the idea of thrashing for 3 weeks before RMIHR..
Might have to put the 33s back on Tigger, put the top down (exhaust leaks through the shot tub), and hope for good weather..
But I'd need to haul my trailer for all of the junk I was going to bring / now need to bring home.
Hmm.. trailer brake controller for Scout... new shocks.. new axle shaft.. hitch.. hrmm..
But, just to get a list going..
At the moment, my projected list of parts..
From 1969-1975 - one outer (driver's side, preferably w/ filler) fender, two inners, core support, lower grille, hood hinge for driver's side (I think the hinge/spring itself is now FUBAR)
From 74-75 - radiator, grille, hood.
I had a 69-73 radiator in the truck before - they do work, but I don't think the shroud will install with 'em, and I had to cut n' splice a brand new upper rad hose to make it all work.
Front bumper.. my once-perfect one is done for. :(
Thinking of a big pre-runner bar with spears on it to hook 'em and keep 'em next time. :D I wonde how that'd look on my 166" WB pavement pounder? :)
Many thanks to everyone's offers. :)
I'll have to stew on it for a few days before I decide what path to take.. thrash and put it back together with multiple colors, or save my strength and put it together just once, later.
Knowing me, I might just opt to thrash.. but I can get the body parts cheaper if I wait.. and do a cleaner install, n' save myself the trouble of doing it twice.
*sigh*
Maybe we'll just catch the guy and he'll have to pay for the body work.. I can hope...
Chief yelling alot 06-27-2002, 11:31 PM just .02 but do it rite the first time then no worries. paint the wole truck whal your at it :D
take it easy
We've got a 73' T/A in the local junk yard with a really nice chrome front bumper.
It also has some nice rust free fenders, head light surrounds, and inner fenders.
Shipping might be a problem unless you have a Forward Air close by. Let me know if you've got one close by and I can pick up the pieces you need.

The Rocklin PNP only has one IH truck, it's a 1965 D1100 crew cab 2wd.
