got some pictures of the bumper I'm starting to build. This is my first "Real" attmept at really building anything for the cruiser. It's going to end up being a Y frame tire carrier when I'm finished. If you have any recomendations please post them.

Gary, ala :flipoff2: Newbie, what the hell about Edward AFB and Arkansas makes a connection here?
Funny!
Gary, I am coming over to Hot Springs soon to wheel...we should hook up!
Donald....looking good, just make it strong, realizing that tire carriers take a lot of abuse with bouncing, so the more you can limit the back and forth bouncing the longer it will last...

You're not kidding.. my spare took the weight of the back 1/2 of the cruzah at Tellico... didn't bend the carrier at all, but it ripped the pivoting hinge wide open! (It was made as a swing away)

Nolan....That would be the license plate:confused: :flipoff2:
But yeah getting together would be great. It will be a while before
I am back in the saddle. I have the body off of mine right now, PO used 6 inches of bondo, some improperly mixed fiberglass, some unidentified glue and reshaped corners with 3 rolls of aluminum foil. It is a mess. stripping it down and trying to fix it right.

I have to agree with the others, stroger the better. Vibration will be the worst enemy. (ok maybe an endo.. is worst) I spent the day as well making parts for my rig , it's strange how fast time goes when your fabing!
Looks great!

Donald,
Where do you work at Edwards?
My father lives in Tehachapi and works for NASA at edwards.
If you have seen it he drives a red D90.

The bumper looks good. I sort think it is cool that you are sticking with the Toyota taillights.
One thing I noticed though is your winch cable wrapped around your front bumper. It may be OK for what type of driving you do. But out west you may as well leave that extra cable at home as the rocks and bumper will smash, crimp, and break that cable to something that wouldn't be worth trying to use in a recovery. Maybe you could relocate it higher and back further? Like around in the highlift area. I wouldn't wrap it around the hi lift as then you will be fighting it when you go to get your jack.

I ususally have the cable wound on the spool but the winch motor burnt up the other day! I tryed to free spool it on there but I couldn't get it all to fit. So now I have to have the motor rebuilt.
thanks
