I know that you can modify a ford D44 to fit an xj, could you do that to a scout 800 D44 just as well?

You're living up to that sig line aren't you:rolleyes:

Except that the Scout II Dana 44 is passenger side diff, the Ford is driver's, like the XJ, oh yeah, and Scout axles have zero caster to make them turn good in the field while pulling the corn husker, not the best for street driving or pinion angle.

I'd change my sig line, but my red star hasen't showed up yet

Anything can be made to fit anything. Do a search and you will find more information than you need.

Ummmm did Scout 800's even have a 44? If they had a rear it was probably 19 spline, and I think they had D27 fronts:confused:

Where is Scout Dude when we actually need his input:flipoff2: :D

Here I come to save the day!!!! :flipoff2:

Umm, Most early scouts 80's and 800's had 19 spline two piece axles if they even had a 44. Some later 800's had one piece 30 spline 44's..however, they are rare..use a Scout II axle that way you can get parts....in fact, forget that..use a Chevy 10 bolt..lots of parts available for them...:flipoff2:

Yeah, but to go into an XJ, I'd use an '80 & up Wagoneer / fullsize Cherokee Dana 44, if you want fullsize, use the '80 &up J-truck Dana 44.

That'd make a good sig line... If only I wasn't so attached to the one I already have... :(

Geez, you guys asked the wrong Scout Dude :flipoff2:

Scout 800's came with a D27 :barf: early, then later a D30 :barf: up front. All closed knuckle and with drums.

In the back D44 with two piece were offered in the V8 models.

All not the best swap for your rig.

Scout II's had 30 spline rear 44's, 75 switched to a larger rear drum. In front disk's started in 74, with both 44 and 30's offered. After 74 all Scout's had 44's with disks.

60.75" in front, 58.5" out back for SII's.

You owe me a

80 is the only year IH added caster to the front axle, 2-3 degree's. So for all you whiny Heep owners that complain about twisting the axle, there you go.

Trust me, I wont complain about the caster of a Snout front end. I think the the Scout 44 front is a very poor candidate for a front end swap. basically a D30 with bigger inners and ring and pinion :barf: I wouldnt put one under my rig. :D

Why is there no information about IH front 60's???????????
OH thats right they never put them in. :flipoff2:

Not in Scout's but IH used D70's closed knuckle in some trucks.

Just don't come looking for room to store your extra crap that won't fit in the itty bitty heep of your's. :flipoff2:
