I have a fluxcore welder and I need to know which wire to get. I got wire from Harbor Freight which is E71T-11. Can anyone tell me what this number means and will it work on mild steel.

Thanx

Yes it will work. It's standard old flux core.

It would be .035

.35 electrode...... what would that be for... welding 40" plate?

.035 is perfect for welding frames to 1/4" plate!

Is'nt all flux cored wire 0.8 mm (same as old fashined 35)?

Runs with 0.9 mm tips?

Well, this is assuming he has the capacity to move enough heat with his welder. I have found that you get better penetration with a smaller wire dia. JMO.

I do not like the .035, I use .030 seems to flow better and burn into metal deeper...

Nope. There's .023, .030, .035....and more but I don't know em.
What you have will work fine on mild steel, assuming you have a .035 tip, and enough amperage to burn it.
