running full width, 3.5"BS 15x8s, and 42s? 85" OST width overall.

too wide? not planning on running comps in this rig, at least with this setup, so gate width isnt a problem. but TREE WIDTH is. i have never run a rig this wide before, so could those guys that wheel in the woods please tell me if this is too wide?

thanks

Not too wide for the wooded areas I've wheeled (I'm 84" in front and 82" in back). Full-width is great for trail-riding but competing with it is rough like you indicated.

that is too wide for my liking. that would definately make a few trails around here at the very least "EXTREMELY DIFFICULT" Damn trees are just too close together.

Seems like it is the good set up everywhere besides the upper midwest... go with it.

yeah, i think i will. and if it turns out to be too wide i can always grind the calipers and run more backspacing or switch to a 16.5" when the first set of 42s wears out.

If you're running 1-ton brakes you'll have to grind calipers to fit 3.5" BS. Forget running more than that unless you are w/ 16.5" rims.

run it full width, gear and lock the axles. Run 3.5" BS and live with it. Later on if you dont like the width all you have to do is have your axles narrowed. I will stay full width. I like it!

i thought that you could run 3.5"BS on a 15 and it would clear???

someone to clarify, please?

All depends on what axle, 8 lug or 5, or 6. We need details. I have GM 60 front with 3.5" BS and had to grind

I have a Ford 60 w/ '82 calipers (smallest casting) and had to grind to fit 3.5" BS

I've never heard of running a 15" rim 3.5" BS on an eight-lug 60 with 1-ton brakes and not having to grind.

Now 2.5" and you won't grind

ok, its a dodge 60, same as chevy?

could i put 3/4 ton brakes on it and not have to grind?

i guess this also all depends on how much grinding has to be done to fit 3.5 with 1tons, if its not much i can deal. i just dont want to have to go so deep into the casting that i have to worry about splitting the caliper when i step on it HARD.

if you not into comps , just do it, you could always get a set of bling bling 17 inch wheels with 5 " BS .......... if it wasnt for comps id be full width
