I am in the process of twin sticking my rig and am gonna do cutting brakes
I have 2 of the cnc rockcrawler cutting brakes sitting here, I am trying to decide if I want to put one in and use it to push forward for both front tires and rearward for both rear tires or put both in to work for individual tires the same way. I would have to push or pull both levers at the same time to lock both front or rear. Is there an advantage to being able to lock just 1 tire or am I better off just using 1 lever to do 2 tires. Whats everyones preferance to this and why ?
yes there is a advantage to braking one wheel. do you have arb's?? you kind of need them if you want to break one wheel. and also, your bore size in combo with calipers is going to determine how well that setup will work. if your bore is too big, then setting it up to lock one wheel is going to requie some big levers and some muscle...if your bore is too small then you will run out of fluid trying to pull on one lever....though all you have to do it charge it with your foot pedal then hold the lever...

I have detroits but if the axle is disengaged at the transfer case through twinticks, it should be able to free wheel anyways wouldn' you think when 1 tire is locked

Correct, most people don't understnad that a detroit ratchets when there is no pressure on the driveshaft. For front or rear burns, you will be able to lock a single wheel.
The only disadvantage to the detroit is you cannot 3-wheel, which is a nice technique to use for many situations, choosing which rear or front wheel is driven, while the other one is idle.

That is pretty much what I figured, I am just trying to decide if it is enough of an advantage to do it or not, Will it be alot of hassel to push or pull 2 handles at the same time when needed or what. I don't mind the plumbing part of it, I just don't want to do it twice is all.

Thomas says 4 way is way better than 2way. you can hold just the one tire as needed, and if you have to hold both its no big deal just mount the 2 units side by side, allthough he did make new handles that are angled down 45 degres . On down hill sharp left turns you just hold the front left and it really holds it.

I was leaning that way since I do already have 2 of them, gonna have to get busy and get started on the transfercase swap really soon, doc wants to stick one of them defibulators in my chest in January so I don't think I will feel much like bench pressing transfer cases after that. routing brake lines shoudn't be to much after the surgery, but transfer cases will. Gotta get busy this week I guess.

My experience with using one set to control front and rear as a set. It failed miserably for me. You had to push too much volume to lock both brakes. It caused the piston to overextend and it would get locked into postion. Once Wayne added a second setup we were golden.

I use the exact set up your thinking about installing. I run Detroits as well. I really like having control of each wheel and no it is not a problem to push or pull both at the same time.

Not that I'm aware of, but anything's possible.
