Ok so a few months ago I talked my little bro into buying an AR kit at the local gunshow... He got your standard CAR upper w/ flattop reciever and a lower parts kit. The dealer didn't have LPK's already made up, so he went digging through his box for 5 minutes and picked out each little piece...
Fast forward to the Chantilly gun show and I bought a DPMS lower for my little brother down there... My mom gave it to him for X-mas today...
Now by looking at Doc's thread we started assembling this bitch...
(Italics is my inner monologue btw)
First we started with the magazine catch... The button for the magazine catch...the threaded hole in the middle of it...you can actually drop the mag catch through it....no threading required... Ok thats gay...we'll have to call them and get a new button I suppose...
So we move on...lets get the trigger guard on.... Oh wait the trigger guard roll pin....yea it drops right through the holes in the reciever... Ok this is getting real gay...what else is going to be a pain in my ass with this thing?
Ok how about the bolt catch...we can throw that together...or can we? Oh thats right...the bolt catch buffer doesn't fit into the fucking hole in the reciever...this part is too big... And the spring is flared at one end...the flared end doesn't fit in the hole.... I must be doing something wrong...this can't just be all fucked up parts they gave me... But I was so good with Lego's as a child....
I decided to move on and install the trigger group... That went in with very little excitementThank god, I'm not a complete idiot
Then I installed the safety...well first it doesn't want to go through, it's just barely catching on the trigger :shaking: I tap it a few times with the plastic butt of a screwdriver and finally get it to go in... I then installed the detent for it and then screwed on the pistol grip... This is the sloppiest fucking safety I've ever experienced! If I picked up an AR at a shop or show and the safety felt like this I would laugh in the dealer's face... This thing has almost no hold when it's in a position :shaking:
Now my question for you guys.... Should I call the company I got the LPK from and ask for new parts? Should/could I demand a branded parts kit? Or should I just see about buying a DPMS lpk to install?
