: AR assembly issues...

Ok so a few months ago I talked my little bro into buying an AR kit at the local gunshow... He got your standard CAR upper w/ flattop reciever and a lower parts kit. The dealer didn't have LPK's already made up, so he went digging through his box for 5 minutes and picked out each little piece...

Fast forward to the Chantilly gun show and I bought a DPMS lower for my little brother down there... My mom gave it to him for X-mas today...

Now by looking at Doc's thread we started assembling this bitch...

(Italics is my inner monologue btw)

First we started with the magazine catch... The button for the magazine catch...the threaded hole in the middle of it...you can actually drop the mag catch through it....no threading required... Ok thats gay...we'll have to call them and get a new button I suppose...

So we move on...lets get the trigger guard on.... Oh wait the trigger guard roll pin....yea it drops right through the holes in the reciever... Ok this is getting real gay...what else is going to be a pain in my ass with this thing?

Ok how about the bolt catch...we can throw that together...or can we? Oh thats right...the bolt catch buffer doesn't fit into the fucking hole in the reciever...this part is too big... And the spring is flared at one end...the flared end doesn't fit in the hole.... I must be doing something wrong...this can't just be all fucked up parts they gave me... But I was so good with Lego's as a child....

I decided to move on and install the trigger group... That went in with very little excitementThank god, I'm not a complete idiot

Then I installed the safety...well first it doesn't want to go through, it's just barely catching on the trigger :shaking: I tap it a few times with the plastic butt of a screwdriver and finally get it to go in... I then installed the detent for it and then screwed on the pistol grip... This is the sloppiest fucking safety I've ever experienced! If I picked up an AR at a shop or show and the safety felt like this I would laugh in the dealer's face... This thing has almost no hold when it's in a position :shaking:

Now my question for you guys.... Should I call the company I got the LPK from and ask for new parts? Should/could I demand a branded parts kit? Or should I just see about buying a DPMS lpk to install?

I read the overviews and it should have gone together easy...these parts are fucked....

And of course my camera has decided to take a shit on me... the lens is totally blacked out in the screen... Maybe I can try to take camera phone pics LOL

Ok so I used my little bro's camera phone, a lamp and a flashlight for light, and a magnifying glass for zoom  Gil, you'd have been proud :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Bolt catch buffer spring...that last loop will not fit into the hole...period.

Bolt catch buffer...I realize it's upside down here, but thats just to show you it won't fucking fit in the hole.:shaking:

Trigger guard roll pin...like a hotdog down a hallway... It's all the way through that bottom hole, yet still it has enough play to lean that much

Bolt catch roll pin...same as the trigger guard...if it could yell, it would hear an echo

And the coup de grace...how the fuck does this even happen?

Kind of Funny!!!

I would order a quality LPK like Stag and try again. I don't think you have the correct parts man.

Do you have a set of calipers?

Actually I think I might have a real old mechanical pair of calipers that were my dad's in the garage

Ok after posting these same posts on mdshooters.com One guy said it looked like I had the d/c and bolt stop buffer springs switched... I swapped them and the spring now fits in the buffer hole...but the actual buffer still isn't fitting... My little brother just wants to send the whole kit back and get another one... I think he should just try to get the parts that aren't fitting...but as long as he's happy in the end, thats fine with me LOL

In Photo #2, that is the piece that hold the rifle buffer in. It fits under the buffer tube.
The bolt hold open device (BHD) is more like a pin and a spring.

I flipped it over to show it doesn't fit... That IS the BHD... The buffer piece is MUCH larger

I would just like to tell everyone on mdshooters.com to go fuck themselves... I posted the same exact thread over there and those douchebags can't link me to the ARFCOM Guide fast enough... And clearly I didn't read the guide or even attempt to follow it....:mad3::mad3::mad3:

I'm not an idiot...I know when shit does or does not fucking fit... Could I probably make this shit work and have a rifle that would shoot, if China invades tomorrow? Yes... Do I want something a little nicer then that? Fucking yes...

In summary, I hate pussies on other boards... Thanks for being here for me PBB...

Bwahahahah... I was band for a week from MD Shooters... Because I wasn't accepting their advice readily enough and was being "abrasive"... Dumbasses kept telling me the same thing over and over again about the bolt catch buffer being the buffer retainer... So I finally made a point to end that BS... But god forbid I tell those with "more experience" when they're wrong...since experience obviously makes you right all the time!

C&P and remove the space so they don't see where it's getting linked from
