: Father In Law Needs Help On 66 Bronco
Lone Ranger UT 12-25-2007, 05:21 PM We are wondering about any websites that have engine swap instuctiong and or ideas on how to make a Chevy 350 work right in there, and adapters that he could use to bolt up the ford tranny and t-case. Also We need to know if that dana 20 t-case is any good. I thought they were chain driven but i cant remember. The other thing was if that front axle would hold together or if it would just be best to upgrade to some bigger axles with disc brakes. The other thing was that i saw an article in a mag of how to put power steering in one of these older bronco's but i cant find it. If yall have any info let me know. thanks
IROK Cherokee 12-25-2007, 05:25 PM So whats wrong with a 302 or 351 that will bolt in without modifing anything?? And they are both Fords :shaking:
Trigger 12-25-2007, 05:36 PM First off, if he puts a chevy motor in his EB, he should be kicked in the nuts. Twice. Then drop the Bronco on his head. Twice.
Second, search. Start with the threads at the top - in the weekly topics index there is plenty of info to answer your questions.

get a 351.
is the 20 any good  how about tell us what you are going to do with it...
no, it's gear driven.
if it's a 66 it's a D30, again, what are you going to do with it?
call a bronco specific parts supplier and they can hook you up with anything you'd need....
StoopidMonkey 12-26-2007, 01:27 AM Are you in Utah, or does UT stand for something else?
For the price of adapters to mate that Chevy engine to a Ford tranny you might as well find a 302 someone is selling or getting rid of. If you are going through the pain of swapping a Chevy motor into an EB, then im assuming you are going to be getting rid of the stock 3 speed tranny, if thats the case then you will just need another adapter to go from the tranny to the Tcase. If you're not getting rid of the 3 speed, but still going to dump time and money on a Chevy motor conversion then you are retarded.
Ditchrunner 12-26-2007, 07:27 PM I'll send you the complete instructions for the 350-EB swap as soon as you send me the complete instructions for putting a 460 in a corvette.
Build a sb ford and get the right engine towers/motor mounts. Bolt up to 3spd and drive it.

It will be some work but well worth it. Since your going the hard way I'd suggest a 727 TorqueFlite behind your 350 for strength. A Dana 21
transfer case will up your gas milage a bit over the 2 speed Dana 20 and a Dana 30 out of an early Scout would be bitchen for the front axle. One of those Jeep Dana 44s with 2 piece axle shafts and locking hubs on it in the rear would the ticket. Some 6" blocks in back and 8" springs in the front under a 4" body lift will look sharp. 30X14.50X20s will give you all the floatation you need and make you a candidate for a magazine layout.
Look around for an air conversion for the steering, it might require a Chevy II steering box. Disc brakes are prone to fluid leaks, check in to cable brakes, they add a retro touch too.
Good Luck LRUT
Dan76 12-26-2007, 09:15 PM Why dont you save your money and time and drop a 351 in. They are cheap and you can get all the adapters and engine mounts easily. Why make it hard on yourself? Unless you are building a mall crawler the dana 30 is junk. Find someone that has swapped their dana 44 from a later model EB and bolt it right in!
