So I have a Dillon 550b, and I got some good cash money gift certificates for Sportsmans Warehouse today I plan to finish off my die collection for what I need.
I am curious, what are the differences between Lee, RCBS and Dillon dies? All three are different price point, Lee being the lowest and Dillon the highest. Are the Dillon dies that much better? Are they worth $16 more than RCBS and even more for Lee? Help me understand why I would spend $58 on the Dillon's

Dillons are nice, I can't complain about my RCBS dies though, and they work just fine on my 550. With as cheap as the Lee dies are, it makes me wonder how tight the tolerances are.

When I bought my 550 I went thru the same thing. In the end I bought the Lee die's.
Most of the info from the different forums was that it was NOT worth the money. YMMV

I got a Lee press for Christmas. So the Lee dies seem ok? I wondered too because of the price.

I have a few different brands and LEE's are ok, RCBS are very good, Hornady's are tight but I dont really care for mine but its not bad enough to make me replace them. No EXP on Dillion dies.

The reason Dillon dies are more expensive is that they have convenience features that make them easier to clean and use. I bought one set to compare to the other examples of dies I own. They`re nice, but not worth the premium price IMO. I own examples of a few die`s, most are very good quality. This is how I rate what I own from best to worst;
1) Wilson
2) Redding, Forster
3) Dillon, RCBS, Pacific/Hornady
4) Lee
I have 2 examples of Lee die`s, one rifle and one pistol. I don`t ever use them because they have the worst tolerences I`ve ever seen, and they`re price reflects that.

Well I ended up with all Dillons. Its what I know, I really like the way they work, and they were all paid for with gift cards :grinpimp: Thanks for the feedback
I just ordered a couple sets of RCBS from Cabela's. The one complaint I heard about Lee was the lock ring. I figured by the time I replaced the lock ring on the Lee it would cost about same as RCBS.

I like Redding. If I cannot find Redding dies at the time, I will buy RCBS

I prefer redding dies, but have mostly RCBS.
