Dieselmh 12-26-2007, 07:08 AM Apparently there are lots of stupid people out there with too much money. I just wish I was smart enough to design something like that, then convince them that they needed it. :(
usmcdoc14 12-26-2007, 07:18 AM Fuck that :shaking: I made 4 slings like that but BETTER for under $30 using marine stainless quick shackles that I duracoated black.
Get hung up, pull little tab and the shackle lets go. No fucking with 2 little tabs in a "I am being choked the fuck out while being dragged by a vehicle" to try and use.
Oh ya, and I made "MOLLE tabs" that is a strap with velcro/snaps and a D ring that you weave through the MOLLE shit on your body armor and attach the quick shackle to it :D no sling needed

PONY_DRIVER 12-27-2007, 06:09 AM $7 Tac sling, not counting for inflation. :flipoff2: http://www.black-rifles.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63
Not bling bling, but it's functional.
aloharover 12-27-2007, 08:51 AM I am not knocking the basic Vickers design. it does work.
Just need to find a large H buckle and make my own. Should be about 15$.
Looking out how much it costs one of us to go to Lowes or a online to get the parts, I just can't see an MSRP of 49.95 for a sling. Figure they are purchasing everything in bulk and spending maybe 5$. With an automated machine cutting the webing to length and doing all the sub components in a production line I can't see more then 5 minutes for assembly. if they are paying someone 30$ an hour to make a sling, thats only $2.50 in labor.

f0cker 01-02-2008, 06:40 PM Doc, I know you said you don't have time to make slings part time, but is there any way I can buy a two point from you? I'd much rather pay you (again, my taxes are your first paycheck. ) for something like this than some random dude.

All he has to do is walk outside and look for an F-150 with gaudy graphics, every pep boys stick on bling you can think of and has North Carolina plates. It's bound to be full of fuckin beaners. Them sonsabitches are everywhere. I wish NC would recall them.

hey Gil, what width material is this? I thought you had detailed out the parts to make one of these in another thread but I can't find it. Any chance of a picture of it stretched out?
I know there was another pic you posted where you talked about sandblasting/duracoating a stainless buckle but I can't find it. That post had more details about sling making.
aloharover 01-06-2008, 06:01 PM 1" wide webbing.
I will try and remmeber to get a photo next time I am in the garage.
From my link at the beginning of this thread...
"OUR PATENT PENDING VICKERS COMBAT APPLICATIONS SLING WITH THE ADDITION OF THE COBRA QUICK RELEASE BUCKLE AND ALL METAL HARDWARE. THE COBRA BUCKLE IS NORMALLY USED IN LIFE SUPPORT APPLICATIONS AND WILL NOT OPEN UNDER LOAD."
In other words when your weapon gets hung up on something you no longer have the ability to pop the fastex buckle and are now fawked...hopefully not burned alive as a result of a VEID.
I mean really who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
I appreciate the time doc took to make me a new toy, but I am not sure I understand the point of this buckle in a sling.
usmcdoc14 01-06-2008, 06:32 PM I appreciate the time doc took to make me a new toy, but I am not sure I understand the point of this buckle in a sling.
send it back with info on what ya like/don't and I will swap out the buckle :flipoff2:
aloharover 01-06-2008, 06:37 PM Don't take it that way. I am just not sure why people would pay more for this
usmcdoc14 01-06-2008, 06:39 PM i aint taking it as an insult  i am just saying i made that one up and sent it before you sent me that info (btw i WILL find that buckle) so just pick at it and let me know what to change :D
