Not remington exactly, but Cerberus... They seem to be buying up ALL the major manufacturers...

Maybe my tinfoil hat is just a little too tight, but this has been bothering me... I don't like one company owning so many major manufacturers...

Now here's where my hat gets REAL tight... What if it's Cerberus is really anti-gun and they're just buying everything up to say.... Well we're going to stop manufacturing all these guns now. The equipment to build them? Yea we're destroying all that too... Now I realize that would be a LOT of money to spend to just do that...but look at what Al Gore has done... Rich, stupid people know no bounds.

it could happen.

though I bet Cerberus' stockholders would throw a hissy fit of epic proportions. question is would the majority of stockholders?

If yours is so is mine. I was paranoid when I heard Cerberus was buying DPMS arms and now they are getting Marlin too. So are we going to see a lever action AR-15 varient now some DPMarlinmasterington?

Wow. That is rather unsettling. DPMS, Remington, and Marlin. I <3 Marlin, and I'm a big fan of Remington. Methinks shittay days may be ahead for gunowners, at least some interesting times. Hopefully (hopefully) they foresee a huge potential profit in those companies? It is odd that they've snapped them up one by one so quickly though. <tinfoil hat>

EDIT: Cerberus also owns Bushmaster

I wonder if they will import foreign guns and stamp them with the Marlin name like Remington did with the EAA Baikal coach guns? I wonder if we'll see a marlin/CZ or similar equivalent?

I don't think is necessarily a bad thing. Cerberus doesn't usually buy brands to destroy them, they generally purchase brands with strong buyer loyality...They also own Chrysler.
