: Ranger SAS with yota axles?
MX489 12-27-2007, 12:47 AM Has anyone SAS'ed their ranger with yota axles. I have been gathering parts for a 44 swap but I was just thinking if I could find a cheap pair of built yotas I could throw em under the ranger relatively easily seeing as the length etc would be about perfect. Thoughts, pics?
Big79'Terry 12-27-2007, 12:54 AM What's wrong with Early Bronco axles??????? 77' w/have discs front.
toyin 12-27-2007, 01:16 AM Eb axles would be a nice choice but the yota axles would work pretty sweet to. They all have discs and upgrade the axles shaft to some longs and be set.
gotmuddy 12-27-2007, 06:21 AM Are EB axles dana 30's? If so then the toy axles are much stronger. I really like toy axles. the ones in my 85 have proved very durable and seem to be impervious to water.

It sounds like a good idea to me, but...
Toy axles are passenger drop. You would either have to get a custom Diamond housing, or figure out a pass drop t-case to make it work (both $$$).

'65 to '70 broncos had dana 30's, '71 to '77 had dana 44's...

Stick with the stock toy housing and get a toy tcase. An adapter to go from the Ford trans to the Toy case would be cheaper. Plus they are easy to double and re-gear.

UP here we cant find that shit. Most rangers around here get toy or jeep axles. Seems to work fine.
Nor Cal Wheelin 12-27-2007, 09:43 AM Toy axles can be built to be DAMN strong and they have sick amounts of ground clearance. Top shifter toy cases are easy to find and cheap for doubler options. I have built some stout dana 44's, but I would opt for the toy axles in this situation.

Most of the EB's had a dana44/nine combo. Stock birfields make the baby jesus cry.
WHITE RHINO 12-27-2007, 05:16 PM why not do everything yota! 22r doubler blahhhhhhh horrible go full width 1 ton and dont look back
Panthers65 12-27-2007, 07:57 PM worry about swapping the axles in then call advance adapters on how to put an atlas behind your ranger tranny and they'll be sure to help you out, lol
Saw a flipped housing with the knucles rotated under an RBV once, not sure how oiling and things worked.
seafarinman 12-27-2007, 08:34 PM You mean like this?

There are very few EB's or eb parts in VT. This state sucks.
MX489 12-28-2007, 09:07 PM I have an eb44, but its drums and rounding up the disk parts is proving to be a pita. Then I gotta upgrade the ujoints and prob the shafts too. I will prob go with it, i was just thinking about the yota idea and didnt remember ever seeing it done.

Just as far as truck parts go, or does that include public policy and politics as well? :D

I vote "D" All of the above.
I did find a d60 front cheap though, and have a line on another one.

Get on ebay, look up a guy by the name of 1ahorsepowersales (http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZ1ahorsepowersales). He sells Ford axle and brake parts. I buy all my stuff from him.

If "D" stands for what I think it does....sorry.
zachis4wheeling 12-31-2007, 11:18 AM Buddy of mine ran into this sort of dilemna. His uncle GAVE him an 85 Chevy 1 ton with no motor, trans or tcase but the axles. Well the rearend was a cinch. He put a Dana 60 in the back from a 78 F250. For the frontend, he ran through his options and since he had just rebuilt the 4.0 v-6 in his ranger and put a new clutch in the truck, he ended up figuring out a real simple solution. I'll warn ya though, It's not for everyone though.
What he did was re-route some of his exhaust and remove the stock fuel tank and fab up a custom crossmember behind his stock BW Ranger tcase. Then he found a divorced NP205 (from an old dodge I believe) and set it up as a doubler and when he did it, he set it up so the driveshafts were within a 1/2" in equal length of each other so he only has to carry one spare now. It works fantastic and he runs 44s with no problem. The axles have 7.17 gears and I think his crawl ratio is something like 175:1. It's alright for beebop around town drivin but it actually does really well on the trail. He linked the front and ran leaves in the back for awhile and is workin on linking it now as well.
Not sure if this is something you'd be into doing, but for him, it works well.
