My Buds and I are starting a new club, anyone that wants to join let me know, and any advise on starting a club, please post here. I had seen a link years ago on the net on how to start a club, anyone see it? open to all makes, lots of snow runs and con runs,so far as I know we have real hardcore rigs,in other words they are not bolt togather rigs, not that they are not welcome too:p I also want to set up a web page for the club, they want me to be "webmaster" cause I know more then they do....not saying much hu:D BaWaaaaaaaaaaaa......I would like a free site and a bb on it would be nice, like here or RCRC or SRC, only since we are going to be a new start up club the website can be small. There will be no restriction on member size, a dozen or 1,000 the more the better.Bylaws are not writtin yet either.........so if you want to be in an Orginized club and have cool matching shirts, he he sign up.I just don't see any local clubs around here that are like me and my buds. I know there are a ton of built rigs in Chico & Paradise, even some in Oroville, Redding.Redbluff ect. I have never been in a club, so I'm ready to give it a shot.:smokin: :smokin: :smokin:

If any one is interested in joining the Pair-o-Dice 4 wheelers let me know. we meet at round table on Skyway next to Safeway in Paradise on the 2nd Tuesday of every month and have at least one club run per month. We also have the Adopt-a-Trail on the High lakes area with the Forest service. Dues are $5 bucks a year for the club and $40 bucks for Cal 4 wheel drive Assoc. membership.
I'm The new V.P. of the club and if anyone wants to join or see what we are all about PM me or Email me. (gsmcelroy@saber.net)
If anyone want's help with a new club for the Butte County area I'll be glad to help with that too.

you probably didn't even know they existed, no problem starting a new club but the main thing is to join an association so we are all helping the same cause. I have been a member of cal4wheel off and on my entire life through my family and personally..

Imagine if all the "clubs" on this board were a part of the same association and what we could do..

At one time the pirates were gonna start an association, but at the moment the only association in california is cal4wheel so if you aren't a member you aren't doing your part IMHO

Just a few suggestions because I have been involved with setting up a new club recently.

1. Set your bylaws early and live by them.

2. Inform everyone of a change before it happens not afterwards or as a matter of fact.

3. Vote. Take a club consensus on everything. You won't be able to make everyone happy and your probably going to piss someone off no matter what you do but ask everyone's opinion before you make any change.

These are just a few things that I have experienced and have made me rethink the club that I joined.

I'd join but my rig isn't up to it yet....:D

I would Highly recomend that you require all your members to also become members of Cal 4wheelers look at it as the mother club they fight for all of us I just figure the 40 bucks (cheap) a year as my yearly pass to run the Rubicon because without them it would probably already be closed.
As far as setting up a club they can also help you with that. The club I'm in is geared toward families we take several base camp wheeling trips a year(about once a month) and the rules are very lax we don't require a set amount of participation but we do raz someone if we haven't seen them for a couple of meeting our meeting are informal held at members houses about once a month and all potluck so everyone participates we BS and have a short talk about the agenda and planned trips none of this "order in the court" like some clubs do but thats us some people need structure and thats fine.
Just some things to think about starting the club is the easy part keeping it going in the direction you would like to see it go is the hard part.

I second (or third?) the making everyone join the Cal 4wd stuff. We have to do work weekends for MN4wda with our club.

Keep the by-laws simple at first, then expand to suit needs of the club. The club I am in is pretty laid back and doesn't have many rules, which is nice, but getting people to show up for meetings can be tough, but we are all spread apart, a bit. There are also some clubs with tons of rules and regs, and lots of hoops to jump through to get in, I think that is too much. It's just a club, not a Frat.

IMO a club should provide a group of friends to go wheeling with, promote responsible wheeling to the nonwheeling community, and work to maintain and keep trails open.

On the serious side. Can rule number 1 be that you must have a rear locker. I have been wheeling with trucks that were not setup, and one time had a buddys bronco brake down in the middle of the trail. I had to tow him all the way out! I will never do that again. So there should be some rule about not having bootie fab, or just a POS. Maybe no unsafe or unequipt rigs. Because going wheeling with TEAM OPEN DIFF just plain sucks.

Sounds like a great idea, too bad you didn't start this up about 5 years ago, cuz now I've left the oh holy wheeling friendly land surrounding you guys, but with wheeler friends in the area I'm sure they'll join and I'll cruise up for some runs. Oh yeah I just need a 4 wheel drive now since mine committed suicide in Holllister this November.

Good luck

If you DO start a club count me in. So let's do something besides just talk about it.

That's the reason for the meeting:D don't know if we need club dues yet;) maybe just a join fee for club shirt&stickers? You are still welome to come along on runs, Let me point out,I have never been in a club, not sure about the rest of you. I think it would be nice to have a few club runs and our own website like pirate4x4 & RCRC has. I had someone from this BB offer a free website..he said.

"I can give you a free website as long as your traffic stays under 1gigabyte a month.. all you need is a domain and I can set you up"
so a domain name is I think under $10 a year or a month, not sure as of yet:D....I willl start a new post soon on the meeting, just trying to get a feel for what is the best day to set a meeting.
