: OBA- 7.5 gallon tank?
road1will 06-28-2002, 10:14 PM would a 7.5 gallon tank be big enough for an OBA setup?
oh yeah it would be used for running some air tools and airing up tires, etc.
run off a york or similar.
SeaBass44 06-28-2002, 10:21 PM You don't need any tank at all....I run like 1.2 gallon of tank, only because I put the fitting on each side of my tube bed.......at idle filling a tire, it pumps out constant 80lbs, 40 at the con, thinner air he he still way fast, course I need the york cause my r4 blew after 3 tires.....got another free, but will get a york and work it to fit my 4.3 later on.
road1will 06-28-2002, 10:23 PM kewl :D
its just that i can pick up a 7.5 gallon tank in great shape cheap and i have no clue about tanks in OBA setups.
plus i want the reserve capacity for the impact when i need it.

Still not needed, I had 2 tanks around 4 gallon each....I sold them to defer the cost of the rest of the parts;)

Albino Man 06-28-2002, 10:45 PM What I want to know is where the hell are you going mount this thing? I have a 2.5 gal and I barely have room for it, and I drive a E.B. But if you got the room, go for it!
road1will 06-28-2002, 10:54 PM well i have a bit of room in the back of my truck :D the tank is 10" dia and 22" long. what i plan on doing is mounting the tank in a 31x19x12 army medical waterproof metal box, along with the regulators and little valve block. i will also keep the hose and fittings in there.
the width between fenderwells in my rig is 36.5", so the box should fit in there well. i will have some little end of hose coming out of some hole drilled in the back of the box, that will have a quick disconnect to the other end of hose that will be mounted to the truck, and go to the york.
whammo, fully self contained, removable, transportable, safe OBA system.
normally i would have the box out, but when i go wheelin just drop it in, connect the hose to the york, strap the box down, and go! need air, open the lid and pull the hose out :D :smokin:
thats the plan, anyway :D

Sounds like a plan:D
Albino Man 06-28-2002, 11:12 PM A tank that big is less room for beer:D IMHO a tank that size is really not needed, but what the hell give it a shot and if you don't like it try something else!
Pavemen 06-29-2002, 10:38 AM Jus go with CO2... Then you can use air tools, fill up tires and pressurize the kg

And run out of air, and $ for refills and can't fill all your buds tires cause it is not going to last long enough to fill everyones tires...:(:(:(
LordRatner 06-29-2002, 11:15 AM my friend has a 1 1/2 gallon and it is enough for everything... doesnt even use it to fill tires, no point. I will have one on board so I can run some truck horns while driving. damn things need 100 psi so a tank is a must.
pontiota 06-29-2002, 03:24 PM Ya run the tank it gives you a good buffer you don't really need 7.5 gallons but if you have the room go for it. The york will not put out enough to run air tools on it own you will need the tank and if you need to reseat a bead you will definitly need the reserve I run 3.5 gallons and thats been all I've needed.
